When office hours were ending, Jackson texted Tiffany. “I’ve got a dinner to attend tonight so I can’t watch over you. Remember, don’t eat what you shouldn’t.”
Tiffany felt bewildered reading the text.
Why was the man being so nice? It was as if the baby was his. A sense of frustration clawed at virtual-novel.net as virtual-novel.net went home after work without replying.
Upon arriving home, virtual-novel.net found Lillian having fruits on the couch. “Tiffie, I don’t have any more cash. Auntie Renee invited me for mahjong tomorrow. Give me three hundred dollars.”
“Three hundred? Just sell me off, okay? Are you still eating? Still turning the AC on? You always lose but you keep going at it. I have nothing to say.” Tiffany changed out of virtual-novel.net shoes and went back to virtual-novel.net room.
Lillian’s face fell as virtual-novel.net said in a louder tone, “If that’s the case, do you think Mark will thank me and offer me some reward if I tell virtual-novel.net that Arianne is pregnant? I’ve got no choice but to ‘make’ money on my own if you refuse to give me some. Say, he’ll agree if I ask for one hundred and fifty thousand dollars in exchange for a piece of helpful information to him, yeah?”
Tiffany barged out of virtual-novel.net room when virtual-novel.net heard the woman. “How dare you! Lillian Lane, I realize that you really can resort to anything for money! Have some dignity, will you! You’ve got no morals at all! If you dare do it, I’ll cut ties with you from now on! Go wherever you want. You’re completely able-bodied, you’re not sick, and you can keep yourself alive. The law can’t penalize me. You haven’t reached the stage of needing financial support!”
Lillian was relentless. “I haven’t stooped to that stage yet. However, if you don’t give me the money, I’ll definitely resort to that. Being poor is a disease, it makes one insane. I’ll do what I say, no matter what your opinion is.”
Tiffany knew that virtual-novel.net wouldn’t need to wait another two days before Lillian would come back asking for more in the exact same way if virtual-novel.net complied to virtual-novel.net wishes now. She was just an ordinary girl. She had to calculate virtual-novel.net expenditure carefully each month when virtual-novel.net received virtual-novel.net salary. With a mother like Lillian, virtual-novel.net was left with nothing every single time! She could not afford any unnecessary expenditure. In spite of it, virtual-novel.net knew Lillian well. If virtual-novel.net did not give virtual-novel.net the money, the woman would certainly go to Mark!
“I’ve had enough. One hundred dollars, take it or leave it. If you insist on telling Mark, you’ll offend both me and Ari. If Ari moves away and cuts ties with me, it wouldn’t mean much even if you got the one hundred and fifty thousand dollars. It won’t even last you a month! If Ari and I are still friends, when virtual-novel.net baby is born and virtual-novel.net secures virtual-novel.net place as Mrs. Tremont, virtual-novel.net could have anything virtual-novel.net wants! Is your brain damaged?” Furious, Tiffany could only reason with Lillian using profits even though virtual-novel.net never once imagined of gaining anything from Arianne.
Lillian gave in a little after listening to her. “Fine. Since you say so, I’ll put up with it. Our family is still dependent on you. One hundred dollars, give it to me.”
After virtual-novel.net gave Lillian the sum, Tiffany went back to virtual-novel.net room and locked the door. Lillian had ordered takeout on virtual-novel.net own. Compared to Tiffany’s home cooked meals, virtual-novel.net preferred takeouts.
It was past eight at night when Arianne returned home from work. She caught a whiff of a strange scent once virtual-novel.net entered the house. It was unlike Rice Ball’s poop, and more like stale takeouts…
Glimpsing at the coffee table in the living room, it’s surface was filled with everything that Lillian had ordered from the past few days. Despite the air conditioning, there was still a lingering stench since it was summer.
“Auntie Lane, leave the takeout packing at the door after you finish the food. We can throw it with the trash downstairs when we go to work in the morning. It’ll smell if you leave it at home,” Arianne could not help commenting, feeling a slight headache.
Lillian answered with a smile, “I haven’t done these before and Tiffie is too lazy to clean them up, so I’ll just leave them here. When virtual-novel.net can’t stand it anymore, she’ll take care of them.”
