Arianne did not close the bedroom door when virtual-novel.net slept. This way, the air conditioning in the bedroom could more or less lower the temperature in the living room. Otherwise, Mark would not be able to sleep.
The fatigue these two days caused Arianne to sleep soundly until the next morning. If virtual-novel.net weren’t woken up from nature’s call, virtual-novel.net wouldn’t have even bothered to leave virtual-novel.net bed. Walking to the bathroom drowsily, virtual-novel.net was stunned when virtual-novel.net entered. Mark was using the toilet! And virtual-novel.net did not even close the door! Although virtual-novel.net stood with his back facing her, Arianne could hear virtual-novel.net clearly.
She closed virtual-novel.net eyes instinctively and turned around. “Can you close the door when you use the toilet?”
“Can’t, it’s too hot.” Mark was nonchalant, having a temper from his lack of sleep.
Would the heat in the bathroom kill virtual-novel.net in the time taken to pee? Arianne was speechless. At the same time, virtual-novel.net prayed for virtual-novel.net to be faster. With the baby in virtual-novel.net womb, virtual-novel.net could not hold it in for too long… Before virtual-novel.net was pregnant, virtual-novel.net had never felt this extent of urgency.
When Mark was finally done, virtual-novel.net pushed virtual-novel.net out impatiently, not expecting virtual-novel.net to push the door open and ask, “What’s for breakfast?” just as virtual-novel.net sat on the toilet.
Arianne looked at virtual-novel.net in shock, unable to release herself no matter how urgent it felt. Was it really appropriate to discuss breakfast in this setting? Was virtual-novel.net still Mark Tremont, who had always been particular?
As if realizing something, Mark closed the door again.
Breathing in relief, Arianne got up to lock the bathroom door before virtual-novel.net continued to soothe herself of life’s most urgent call. She had still been sleepy before, but now virtual-novel.net was wide awake.
Coming out of the bathroom, virtual-novel.net asked as if nothing happened, “Did Rice Ball eat anything? Did it drink?”
“It drank, but nothing to eat yet,” Mark answered casually.
Not knowing what to reply, Arianne checked the time. Helen had probably asked someone to send the breakfast by now. She opened the door, and as expected, there was also fresh produce. Breakfast was sent every day while fresh produce was sent every other day.
She took the breakfast to Mark. “There you go. Didn’t you ask what’s for breakfast? This.”
Mark made no comment about the shop where the breakfast was from and opened it at once. “I thought that you didn’t want anything from Helen.”
Arianne smiled. “I don’t. I rejected virtual-novel.net money and property too, but virtual-novel.net pushed them to me anyway. I can only find a chance and return them to her. But the fresh produce and breakfast that virtual-novel.net sends? I don’t like wasting food. What can I do with them if I don’t consume them?”
There was no reply from Mark as virtual-novel.net ate quietly, not forgetting to share half of it with Arianne.
Before Arianne’s smile could fade, Mark suddenly spoiled the mood. “I’m doing all this not because I’ve forgiven you, but out of responsibility. Don’t think that everything’s fine now. If the baby’s not mine, you’re doomed.”
Arianne froze slightly, already having gotten used to his erratic changes, so virtual-novel.net was not exactly upset. After breakfast, virtual-novel.net went to work with Tiffany while Mark sent Rice Ball to the vet for its drip on his way. He had volunteered to do it and not because Arianne suggested it.
When it was near noon and estimating that Rice Ball was about done with the drip, Arianne was going to pick it up and sneak it to the office so virtual-novel.net could take care of it when Mark sent virtual-novel.net a five-minute clip. Rice Ball was in his office!
She had thought that Mark’s limit was helping virtual-novel.net send Rice Ball to the clinic, but never in virtual-novel.net wildest dream would virtual-novel.net expect Mark to pick it up on time or… Had virtual-novel.net waited until Rice Ball was done with the drip?
Arianne’s hand flew to virtual-novel.net chest subconsciously, virtual-novel.net heart having a mind of its own. It felt as if virtual-novel.net palpitating heart was going to leap out of virtual-novel.net chest. It was like virtual-novel.net was getting to know a different Mark Tremont, one who gave virtual-novel.net a different feeling from the past…
She calmed herself down after some time and texted back, “Thank you, thank you for everything that you’ve done for Rice Ball.”
Mark did not reply, as expected. She thought about it and texted virtual-novel.net again, “Will Rice Ball be a nuisance when you work? It has to go for drips for days at least; it won’t be convenient to you this way.”
Mark did not reply still. Arianne thought that virtual-novel.net was busy and gave up interrupting him.
In the CEO office of the Tremont Tower, Mark looked at Arianne’s texts without replying, but virtual-novel.net did not turn his screen off either. He had just discovered that it was actually so simple to have virtual-novel.net become ‘chatty’ with him.
For the entire afternoon, Arianne sent virtual-novel.net ten text messages telling virtual-novel.net how to take care of Rice Ball, afraid that virtual-novel.net did not know how. Mark had only replied a “Mm” without regarding virtual-novel.net reminders. She was not even born yet when virtual-novel.net had a cat.
Once work ended in the evening, Arianne went to Mark’s office with Tiffany. Certainly, it was for Rice Ball.
Arianne had been worried about Rice Ball having a hard life for the whole afternoon, only to find out how comfortable it was when virtual-novel.net reached Mark’s office. Its bowls and bed were new purchases, its kibbles were imported, and it had a brand new luxurious cat climbing tower. It was like it had a new home here!
Although Rice Ball still looked lifeless without an appetite, it was doing much better than it used to.
Tiffany joked, “Mark, why don’t I return the car to you? Now that Rice Ball is sick, you have to take care of it with Ari. Just stay together. You can drop virtual-novel.net off and pick virtual-novel.net up from work every day, along with the cat. Isn’t that easier? Why did you still give me a car for nothing? When Ari’s tummy gets bigger in another month or two and virtual-novel.net goes on maternity leave, both of you will still have to stay together. You won’t actually leave virtual-novel.net alone, right? What do you say?”
