As they drew closer and closer together, Arianne completely surrendered. Her son would grow up someday, and the family of three wouldn’t be able to share a bed for too long. She didn’t want to lose this chance to stay close to Aristotle so soon. If virtual-novel.net refused, Mark would really take virtual-novel.net back to the baby’s room.
The next morning.
Arianne was woken by Mark and Aristotle. One was reminding virtual-novel.net that it was time to leave, and the other stared hungrily at her, asking for milk.
She was still very drowsy when virtual-novel.net fed virtual-novel.net son. Mary carried virtual-novel.net away after his morning feed, and virtual-novel.net finally felt energized enough to get showered.
She wasn’t the drunkard last night, nor was virtual-novel.net the one to exert herself, so why was virtual-novel.net more exhausted than Mark? She grumbled under virtual-novel.net breath when virtual-novel.net saw how energized Mark looked, as if virtual-novel.net was perfectly fine.
She put on some light makeup to avoid looking too tired. She had gotten virtual-novel.net figure back after giving birth, and virtual-novel.net could wear virtual-novel.net old clothes again. She stared at virtual-novel.net reflection in the mirror, feeling pleased. At least she, a full-time mother, did not look too sloppy. She wouldn’t be criticized if virtual-novel.net stood next to Mark.
By the time virtual-novel.net arrived downstairs, Mark was holding Aristotle and had been waiting for quite a while. She usually wore comfortable house clothes, which were easier for breastfeeding. Naturally, virtual-novel.net wouldn’t need to put on makeup in the house. Mark’s eyes lit up when virtual-novel.net arrived, all dressed up. “Why are you all dressed up?”
She felt mildly pleased. At least, virtual-novel.net received his approval after putting in such hard work. “Why? Can’t I dress up? I’m ten years younger than you. I don’t want people thinking that we’re the same age. Let’s go. We can leave now.”
The corners of Mark’s lips twitched. His handsome face was filled with a mix of complicated expressions. “What are you implying? Snubbing my age? Life was so much better back when you were afraid of me. At least, you wouldn’t annoy me at every turn. Why aren’t you scared of me anymore?”
She took the little baby and smiled. “Because you’re a lot nicer now. If you keep putting on that icy, cold expression from the past, maybe I’d still be afraid of you… Maybe.”
The complacency in virtual-novel.net brows filled virtual-novel.net with an urge to shower virtual-novel.net with affection. “So, you’re taking advantage now? Inching your way every time I let you? I’m going to be much fiercer to you from now on, or you’re going to undermine me one day. I find that quiet little girl from days gone by much more adorable.”
Arianne lowered virtual-novel.net voice and said, “Oh? Would you like me to call you my ‘big brother’ again?”
“Call me ‘honey’,” Mark replied with a change in his expression.
She snorted with laughter. “As if!”
Arianne hesitated from getting down from the car when they arrived at the hotel. She was wondering what virtual-novel.net would find out from Mr. and Mrs. Harris. Would it change their peaceful lives?
Mark noticed virtual-novel.net concern and held virtual-novel.net hand. “It’ll be fine, don’t worry. Henry’s men are upstairs. Just focus on asking important questions.”
Arianne nodded then carried the baby down from the car.
