Jessica went red from embarrassment. “Mark Tremont! You’re the first man to undermine me like this! I want to know why. Aren’t you the one in the wrong? I accept your apology. The partnership can still continue. Are you going to just throw it away, just because I’ve seen your wife?”
Mark took a deep breath, paused, and said, “That’s right. My wife is the limit. No one is allowed to touch her. I’m in the wrong, and I’ve apologized. It ends now, okay? Although I’ve had a very good experience with our partnership, Tremont Enterprises can do without your partnership. There’s no use in it if you keep up this harassment.”
Jessica laughed in spite of virtual-novel.net rage. “You’re the most difficult man I’ve ever met. I went to see your wife because I misunderstood and thought you had feelings for me. I wouldn’t have gone if I had known that this was a misunderstanding. Theoretically speaking, it’s still your fault, so there’s no need to put extra blame on me, is there? The loss of this partnership would bring too much loss for both of us. I just don’t see the need. Men should make big decisions. There’s no need to act on impulse. If needed, I will apologize to your wife. Will that do?”
Mark frowned. “You have a point, but my wife will feel uncomfortable. She might not prevent me from continuing our partnership, but I’m afraid that it might bug virtual-novel.net anyway. There’s no need for an apology. Isn’t it all just a misunderstanding? We just need to solve the misunderstanding. We’ll terminate the partnership.”
Then, virtual-novel.net immediately drove off.
Jessica bit virtual-novel.net lips. Her eyes filled with dissatisfaction. She had taken such a long trip, only for it to end in such a sharp rebuff. Mark had caused the misunderstanding, and virtual-novel.net had apologized. Yet, why did virtual-novel.net feel so unfulfilled? She was clearly not in the wrong, but it felt like virtual-novel.net was the only one at fault! She had thought it over for the entire night, this partnership could still continue, even if this man did not belong to her. She had already taken the initiative to send out that email, but virtual-novel.net still reacted in this manner anyway.
The most perplexing of all was Mark’s feelings for Arianne. In virtual-novel.net opinion, feelings could be toyed with in one’s control, and people would get tired of them. They weren’t supposed to be permanent. Mark had successfully piqued virtual-novel.net interest. She had never tasted defeat before. It was probably due to the feelings that Mark had given her. Now, virtual-novel.net knew how much dissatisfaction and subjugation came with defeat. She would not give up so easily!
Upon returning to virtual-novel.net car, virtual-novel.net said to virtual-novel.net chauffeur, “Go to that small office from last time.” Yes, virtual-novel.net wanted to see Arianne. Since Mark’s wife was his taboo, turning the tides would be in Arianne’s hands. If the woman relaxed, the partnership could still continue. As long as the partnership continued, virtual-novel.net would have more chances of interacting with that haughty man!
When virtual-novel.net arrived at the entrance to Arianne’s office building, Jessica saw Arianne and Robin through virtual-novel.net car window, chatting and laughing as they walked towards their office with a cup of milk tea in each hand. No matter how virtual-novel.net looked at it, Arianne looked like a little girl who had just joined society not too long ago. She was simply nothing compared to herself. Aside from their age, Arianne didn’t seem like virtual-novel.net had the upper hand in any aspect. This was also another reason why virtual-novel.net couldn’t accept virtual-novel.net defeat.
She gestured at the chauffeur to step forward. The chauffeur nodded, got down from the car, and ran towards them. “Mrs. Tremont, Jessica would like a word with you.”
Arianne glanced outside. Hadn’t this woman’s partnership with Mark fizzled out? Why was virtual-novel.net looking for virtual-novel.net now?
Robin tugged virtual-novel.net sleeves worriedly. “It’s fine,” virtual-novel.net said soothingly. “I’ll check it out. You can go back to the office first. I’ll be back soon.”
Once virtual-novel.net got into the car, Jessica told the driver to head to the nearest café. The milk tea in Arianne’s hands seemed cheap and a stark contrast to the atmosphere in the café. She glanced at Jessica’s ears. This time, Jessica wasn’t wearing the earrings.
After finding a seat, Jessica smiled calmly and said, “Mrs. Tremont, would you like something to drink? You can choose whatever you like.”
Arianne waved the milk tea in virtual-novel.net hand. “No need, I have a drink. Please get to the point. I have to go to work, and I don’t have much time, sorry.”
