Alejandro’s calm demeanor was the exact opposite of Melanie’s stormy rage. The calmer virtual-novel.net was, the angrier virtual-novel.net became. “I told you I’m divorcing you. End of discussion!”
His expression was calm as virtual-novel.net looked at virtual-novel.net from the corners of his eyes. “Reason?”
Melanie clenched virtual-novel.net fists and said through gritted virtual-novel.net teeth, “I’ve had enough of this life. It’s that simple.”
Alejandro scoffed. “In the past, no one heard my pleas when I said I didn’t want this marriage. Now, I’m supposed to accept that you’re tired and let you go? Give me a better reason. Make it more believable. I’ll grant you the divorce if you’re able to give me a convincing reason.”
Melanie trembled as virtual-novel.net said, “First, you’re still thinking about Tiffany. Second, you don’t treat me well enough. You’re always ignoring my feelings, and I’m thoroughly disappointed in you. Lastly, I refuse to let my daughter grow up in a loveless family. The two of us will never be able to provide virtual-novel.net with the family virtual-novel.net deserves. I don’t see any future for virtual-novel.net if we’re together. Is that enough?”
Melanie’s words were accusatory and pierced his ears. Alejandro would not know how badly virtual-novel.net had treated virtual-novel.net if virtual-novel.net did not tell virtual-novel.net those things. He began to realize that virtual-novel.net had been silently suffering all this while and had finally snapped. He had mixed feelings as virtual-novel.net looked at virtual-novel.net reddened eyes.
The cigarette continued to burn in between his fingers. In truth, virtual-novel.net did not want a divorce. He did not have a reason why virtual-novel.net did not want a divorce, or rather, virtual-novel.net refused to think of the reason. If virtual-novel.net had to come up with a reason, it would be because virtual-novel.net felt somewhat content with the marriage at the moment, including the lovely daughter virtual-novel.net had. All in all, virtual-novel.net found no reason for a divorce. It was true that Tiffany was still in his head, but it was a fact that would not change even if virtual-novel.net divorced Melanie. He no longer had anything to do with that woman who accompanied virtual-novel.net for three years. After a long while, virtual-novel.net finally said, “Why don’t we talk again when you’ve calmed down.”
Melanie could not wait any longer. She wanted to put a stop to this as quickly as virtual-novel.net could while virtual-novel.net was still brave and determined. She was afraid virtual-novel.net would hesitate if virtual-novel.net was given time to stew in virtual-novel.net thoughts. “I’m very calm at the moment. I’m thinking very clearly, at least. We’ll put an end to it now!”
Alejandro took a deep puff of his cigarette. The smoke wafted out of his mouth as virtual-novel.net said, “If you were calm, you wouldn’t be standing here and shouting. You should avoid making decisions in the heat of the moment. You might regret them later.”
Melanie paused briefly. She took a deep breath before sitting on the sofa and said, “I won’t regret my decision, I’m tired.”
Alejandro stubbed the cigarette out in the ashtray as virtual-novel.net felt the heat approaching his fingertips. “About last night… I’m sorry. I’ve had too much to drink. It wasn’t my intention to treat you that way. I have some urgent matters to attend to at the office, we’ll continue our discussion when I return. The nanny will take care of Melissa for the time being. You’re to have no contact with virtual-novel.net until I return.” He left the manor without looking back as soon as virtual-novel.net finished speaking.
Melanie laid on the sofa as virtual-novel.net felt energy leaving virtual-novel.net body. She silently cried. After virtual-novel.net had steeled herself and decided to get a divorce, why was virtual-novel.net being so difficult? What was the reason for that? Was virtual-novel.net not unwilling to get married in the first place? He even apologized for his actions last night. If virtual-novel.net was capable of apologizing, why did virtual-novel.net have to hurt virtual-novel.net so deeply before doing so? She felt as though virtual-novel.net had been stuck in a vicious cycle of being filled with hope before virtual-novel.net was disappointed. She wanted to break out of the cycle.
She felt helpless that virtual-novel.net was not allowed to see Melissa and had no choice but to call Tiffany, the only friend virtual-novel.net had in the city. The moment the call connected, Melanie sobbed uncontrollably as soon as virtual-novel.net heard Tiffany’s voice. “Tiffany, I want to divorce Alejandro…”
Tiffany jumped in surprise. “Divorce? Why? What did virtual-novel.net do to you? Weren’t the two of you just fine at the gala? What’s changed? Why don’t you calm down, and stop crying first…”
