By the time Robin arrived, the restaurant was closing up. Sylvain had just left the restaurant too.
They looked at each other. Robin tried virtual-novel.net best to put on a smile. “I’m sorry for making you wait so long. Let’s have supper, my treat.”
Sylvain looked at virtual-novel.net pajamas and felt a faint, indistinguishable feeling. It must have taken a lot of strength out of virtual-novel.net to come to him. He stepped forward and stroked virtual-novel.net head. “It’s late. You shouldn’t have come out. We can always have a meal together another day. I’ll take you home.”
Robin went into a daze when virtual-novel.net patted virtual-novel.net on the head. All of virtual-novel.net negative energy disappeared into nothing. “It’s alright. If it’s no trouble, we can have supper first, then go home.”
Sylvain looked at her. “But if you go home, your mom will fight with you again. I don’t want you to be dragged into suffering because of me. You know that, don’t you? I knew that you wouldn’t be able to get out tonight. I didn’t really expect you to meet up with me.”
Robin glanced at the closed restaurant behind him. “But you’ve waited for so long.”
“Because you deserve to be respected,” Sylvain replied with a smile. “So, I would wait until I was absolutely sure that you wouldn’t be able to get out, then I would leave.”
Robin gathered virtual-novel.net courage, took his hand, and walked to the car. “Let’s go, we’ll have supper.”
“Are you sure?” virtual-novel.net asked uneasily. “Aren’t you worried that your house might turn upside down when you get home?”
Robin took a deep breath. “I’m not scared of anything as long as I’ve seen you. You give me courage, it’s always been that way. I don’t know why, but every time I’m with you, I feel more relaxed. I’d turn into a lifeless puppet whenever I’m home.”
Sylvain did not object any more. He took virtual-novel.net to a 24-hour food truck. They sat on a nearby bench, feeling the cool, refreshing night breeze.
Robin ordered a carton of beer. She only wanted to enjoy this night. She didn’t want to think about anything at all.
The phone suddenly rang. Robin unlocked virtual-novel.net phone to check, it was a notification from virtual-novel.net potential husband. He had sent virtual-novel.net a friend request on Facebook. She tapped “approve.” If not, virtual-novel.net would suffer consequences later.
Sylvain noticed the slight change in virtual-novel.net expression and asked, “Who is it?”
She smiled and shook virtual-novel.net head. “No one, just spam.”
Unbeknownst to them, a car had parked on the side of the road, not too far away. Mrs. Cox furiously got down from the car and locked onto Robin’s figure with a single glance.
Robin only noticed virtual-novel.net when virtual-novel.net arrived in front of her. She rose to virtual-novel.net feet in panic. “Mom? What are you doing here?”
Mrs. Cox glared at Sylvain gloomily. She didn’t say a word, but the look on virtual-novel.net face seemed like virtual-novel.net was ready to tear virtual-novel.net to pieces. Her glare said it all.
Robin was close to a breakdown. “Mom, if you have something to say, we’ll do it at home, okay?”
Mrs. Cox sat down on the chair next to them. “You think I’m going to cause a scene here? Don’t worry, I won’t. Didn’t you say that I haven’t spent enough time with Sylvain, and that I don’t know virtual-novel.net well enough? Now’s a good time. I’ll spend some time with virtual-novel.net right now.”
