Arianne could not, for the life of her, leave Shelly be without a comeuppance for forcing Mark into seeing another woman.
She mulled over virtual-novel.net options for a while before saying, “You’re invited to enjoy me, but on one condition: you have to stay for the night. Do that, and you’ll have me. If you can’t, though? Oh, well. Your loss. Think wisely… Don’t say I never gave you a chance.”
Mark narrowed his eyes as virtual-novel.net considered her, a cryptic half-smile hanging on his lips. “You’re rather vindictive, aren’t you? But… I’m happy to oblige. Tonight it is, then. Can’t see why I should be afraid when you’re not,” virtual-novel.net teased. “Besides, my aunt is squarely in the wrong here, and there’s not even a shred of doubt of it.”
Shelly lied to him. She had promised virtual-novel.net to never let Arianne know about his “meeting” with Saoirse, only to betray it. If Mark did nothing in retaliation, virtual-novel.net would be setting himself up to an even worse future going forward.
They waited for almost two hours before Mary finally returned with Smore. She told them that they had gone to buy some groceries, and that Smore was kind enough to help virtual-novel.net lift some of the lighter stuff.
The first thing Smore asked when virtual-novel.net saw his father was, “Are you going to eat with us, Daddy?”
Mark nodded. “Mm-hmm. Daddy will be keeping you company today.”
Smore said nothing in return. No one could fathom the thoughts brewing in that little mind of his.
As the sky gradually darkened into dusk, Mark’s phone began to ring.
The more virtual-novel.net neglected it, the more persistent the calls became. They irritated Arianne so much that virtual-novel.net spoke up. “Just answer the damn phone. Tell virtual-novel.net straight that you’re not coming home tonight because you wanna keep Smore company.”
Now that virtual-novel.net had virtual-novel.net permission, Mark finally answered the phone after virtual-novel.net paced toward the window. “Hello?”
Shelly’ s exasperation oozed out from the other side. “Why haven’t you been picking up your phone?! Where the hell are you? I’ve called the office and they told me you’ve left a long while ago! Are you with Ariane again? That disgusting b*tch! She charmed you into seeing virtual-novel.net again, didn’t she?!”
Shelly’s barrage of screeching accusations immediately pushed Mark’s button. He was not some three-year-old toddler, and virtual-novel.net had never been so bound and controlled in his life. Shelly’s behavior was quickly inciting his ire, in fact, virtual-novel.net felt as though every single cell in his body was repulsed and revolted by virtual-novel.net voice.
Nevertheless, virtual-novel.net would not want Smore to be frightened by virtual-novel.net raising his voice, so virtual-novel.net tried hard to remain calm. “I won’t be coming home tonight, and no, please don’t bombard me with trite questions. I’m not a kid, and no one has ever controlled me to this extent before. You’re depriving me of my freedom, and I am genuinely disgusted. Is that clear?”
Shelly’s voice was trembling. “What are you talking about? We’ve always been good and cordial with each other! So, why are you suddenly, I knew it… F**king Arianne again! You must be at virtual-novel.net place right now, aren’t you?! Only that b*tch… Only virtual-novel.net can instigate you into throwing hurtful fits at me! This is the f**king reason why I do everything in my power to make you stay away from her! She’s too scheming, too calculating! I don’t care where you are, Mark, I want you to be back right, now!”
Mark enunciated his every word in a firm, unyielding flourish. “I said: I. Am. Not. Coming. Home. Tonight! Remember that time when you arranged for Saoirse McKinsey to appear in my house, and you promised me that you wouldn’t break a word to Arianne? Well, why the hell did you do it anyway? Hell, why are you so dedicated to making us a thing that you even changed my shampoo and soap into the very same ones Saoirse uses? Your little schemes are just plain f* *king asinine! ” virtual-novel.net bristled. “Ever since you’ve forced yourself into my life, every day has been a fresh level of hell. I’m always stressed out; I feel like I’m always on the frontline, always in a never-ending war. Aren’t you at all worn out? Because I am, I f**king am. And I’m so fatigued that I’m going to hang this call. And for the love of God? Stop-calling-me.”
Mark hung up exactly as virtual-novel.net said virtual-novel.net would. He could almost picture Shelly hulking-out in his mind, but virtual-novel.net was too disinterested to care anymore.
Just as anyone would have guessed, Shelly had, indeed, gone berserk. She had smashed virtual-novel.net phone into an unusable smattering, and then moved on to reduce every other unfortunate, breakable object around virtual-novel.net into a pile of shards and pieces.
Her unhinged temper was so well-known by the Tremont retinue that no one came forward to appease her. In fact, unless virtual-novel.net quietened down, no one would dare even try to clean up the chaos virtual-novel.net hysterical meltdown was making.
