“Anyone at all?”
Mark coldly flung Arianne’s hand away as virtual-novel.net said those words.
Arianne stood virtual-novel.net ground. “It was just a hug, that’s a very normal thing to do. Why are you saying ‘anyone at all’?”
Mark walked towards the roof-to-floor window before sitting down and lighting a cigarette. “There are tons of women who fancy me. Should I hug them all as well? If that were the case, I wouldn’t be doing anything else anymore. Why couldn’t you not give it to him? You’re already married, and you didn’t even ask me first. Do I not have the right to be angry at all? Is it that hard for you to even admit to your mistakes?”
Arianne finally fell silent. ‘He’s right. He does have a reason and right to be angry at me.’
‘Why I agreed to Mateo’s request in the first place was because virtual-novel.net has done so much for me and has been thinking of me all these years that I couldn’t help but feel a little ashamed and think of it as a burden that needed to be resolved as soon as possible.’
‘Further, virtual-novel.net is Melanie’s childhood friend. If it were anyone else, I definitely wouldn’t bother with them.’
‘I’m angry at Mark because of how controlling virtual-novel.net is and for hitting Mateo. Apologizing actually isn’t that hard.’
At that thought, Arianne got up and took a deep breath. “I’m sorry, I acted too rashly in this matter and did not think too much about how you might feel. I never intended for things to turn out like this.”
Mark slowly puffed out a mouthful of smoke. “He opened up a Cantonese cuisine restaurant for you, kept you in his heart for so many years, and returned to the country solely for you. Does it move you?”
‘Does it?’ If it did, virtual-novel.net would probably be panicking more, wouldn’t she? She lowered virtual-novel.net head. “No, I never would’ve thought that virtual-novel.net would do all that for me. Besides, I just found out about it myself. I was very shocked and panicked, that’s all. I’ve already admitted to my mistake; you don’t have to hold onto it any longer. There won’t be a next time.”
Mark did not say anything. After a moment of silence, both of them simultaneously asked, “Does your hand hurt?”
When they both heard the other’s voice, they were stunned for a second.
Arianne brought over a first-aid kit and knelt before him. The moment virtual-novel.net touched his bruise, Mark squinted in pain and subconsciously moved his hand away. “I’m fine, don’t bother about me and take care of your own hand.”
Arianne adamantly held onto his hand. “Don’t move, let me see whether you’ve injured any bones or not. Just endure the pain for a while. Also… put out that cigarette. It’s suffocating.”
Mark obediently followed Arianne’s orders and casually threw his cigarette into the ashtray. He felt a little regretful when virtual-novel.net saw how carefully virtual-novel.net tended to his wounds while virtual-novel.net own hand was still bleeding. ‘I shouldn’t have rashly pushed virtual-novel.net just now. God knows how I felt when I saw virtual-novel.net hugging another man in virtual-novel.net arms earlier.’
After virtual-novel.net was done tending to his wounds, virtual-novel.net helped wrap up his hand. “There’s no injury to your bones, but you’re definitely going to be in pain for a few days. You were actually able to break such thick window glass. If I were standing in front of you at the time, I suppose that punch would’ve landed on me, wouldn’t it?”
The moment Mark recalled how Arianne and Mateo were hugging each other, virtual-novel.net unhappily retracted his hand. “Can you not mention that matter already? You just had to say it to traumatize me again. If there’s a next time, it won’t end as simply as this!”
Arianne glared at him. ‘What else does virtual-novel.net know how to do other than spitting threats?’
Just as Arianne was about to leave, virtual-novel.net was suddenly pulled into his arms. While virtual-novel.net was startled, Mark grabbed onto virtual-novel.net injured hand and carefully looked at it. “Don’t move, let me wrap it up for you. You’ve got some lacerations; be careful not to get it infected.”
‘Compared to the injury on Mark’s hand, mine really isn’t that serious at all. There’s no need to wrap it up.’ At that thought, virtual-novel.net struggled to try and get up. “No need for that, it’s just a minor flesh wound. I’ll go take a shower now. I’ll be fine after putting a plaster over it later…”
Before virtual-novel.net could even finish virtual-novel.net sentence, Mark suddenly took a breath. “Don’t move!”
