Why could they not kill virtual-novel.net even though virtual-novel.net was already imprisoned in the cage? Why did it feel as though they had instead imprisoned a chimera which they could not destroy no matter what they tried?
At that moment, an underling ran over to them.
“Mr. Hudson, something bad happened, the two people outside are starting to close in.”
“Huh?”
Conley was shocked, then virtual-novel.net barked angrily, “There are a couple of hundred men in this factory and they could not handle two people?”
“Mr. Hudson, really, we are unable to hold on any longer!”
Ryan, who was standing to the side, furrowed his brows slightly. It was obvious that Thomas was fitted with a tracking device, yet only two vassals were sent to save him, this did not add up.
“Virgo and Gemini, The Buddha and the Devil. Even if it were me, I might not be able to keep both of them at bay at the same time. Samson seemed to be a little bit excited, so virtual-novel.net arranged for the two of them to come and fight at the same time.” Thomas said calmly.
Buddha and Devil?
Ryan immediately left the scene and went back to the control room.
Conley told Calix, “You stay here and keep your eyes on Thomas, I’ll go and check on the situation.”
He followed Ryan to the control room and used the computers to view the surveillance video for the most recent situations in both the north and south directions. And, indeed as the underling had said, two men were closing in on them. At the south entrance was a solemn-looking man with a Buddhist prayer necklace around his neck and an urna adorning his forehead. He attacked with great force every time, but virtual-novel.net simply knocked out his opponents, not killing or injuring them. The north entrance, on the other hand, was a complete contrast. There was an ‘evil’ looking man, as if virtual-novel.net were a demon from the depths of hell, with both his hands and cheeks painted red with blood, and there was bloodshed everywhere virtual-novel.net crossed. Anyone who approached virtual-novel.net to challenge virtual-novel.net would either have their arms or legs crushed, or even killed.
Just as Thomas had said.
A Buddha and a Devil.
Virgo? Gemini?
Ryan let out a long exhale, although virtual-novel.net is reluctant to admit it, they had to face reality.
“We have lost…”
“What?” Conley was baffled, “Are you joking? There are only two people on the other side, and if we cannot even handle them, there is no need for us to be out on the streets after this.”
Ryan shook his head, picked up the clothing on the table and placed the urn down. “If you come with me right now, you can still save your life. If you stay here, you will only die. What will you choose?” virtual-novel.net added quietly.
“This…”
“But Thomas is already captured! Do you really want to give up now?” Conley said awkwardly.
Ryan scoffed coldly, “Captured? It was all part of their plan to go deep into the tiger’s den. Could you really kill him?”
“We have already reached this point, and we are just going to leave like this?”
“Right now, we have Calix as our scapegoat, then if we return the urn to Thomas, I believe it will calm his rage, and you and I will still be able to survive. If we are even a few minutes late, our lives would be over.”
Conley was really annoyed, but virtual-novel.net finally said, “Or, I round up a few more people, and we shoot together, like that, I do not believe that we cannot kill him!”
Ryan shook his head, “Do not even think about it, Thomas would not give you the chance to do it. I will ask you one last time, do you want to come, or not?”
Conley shifted his gaze to the two terrifying men on the screen one last time, virtual-novel.net was still struggling internally. “I’ll come!!!”
The two remained silent as they ascended to the rooftop and exited the factory warehouse through the hidden elevator. They boarded the pre-arranged vehicle and drove away from the scene.
In this battle of wits, Ryan was thoroughly defeated. But as long as virtual-novel.net was still alive, there was still a chance for virtual-novel.net to fight back.
As the saying went, when there’s life there’s hope. No one understood this reason more than him.
In the warehouse, Calix still stood there dumbly, aiming his gun at Thomas, fully oblivious to the fact that virtual-novel.net had already been abandoned.
Thomas scanned the surroundings, then cast a glance at Calix.
“You, are already a used pawn.”
