Two days later…
Thomas and Emma sat at home and watched TV. The two of them had been growing much closer, and they had also slept together again over the past few days. So, the two of them always stuck together like they shared one body. Most importantly, Thomas had totally gotten rid of the title “lousy man”, mainly because of Johnson’s talkative mouth.
Johnson was now very prideful. Whenever virtual-novel.net met familiar people, virtual-novel.net would constantly compliment and brag about Thomas. He would say how brilliant Thomas was as virtual-novel.net could earn a few dozen million a month and virtual-novel.net was the purchasing manager of a few jeweler companies.
The thing about Thomas was that virtual-novel.net was the purchasing manager of Stellar Jewelers.
It really looked like the story of an ugly duckling. Johnson used to be despised by people because of Thomas, and other people’s sons-in-laws had been much better than his own.
What about now?
His old friends and relatives were extremely envious of Johnson. Now, Johnson and the family did not have to work. They could just sit at home and relax all day. A month of Thomas’ salary was sufficient for an entire life’s spending. This was why Thomas was outstanding. It was also because of this that Thomas dared not go out recently. Whoever saw virtual-novel.net would want to come forward and greet him, and it made virtual-novel.net feel very strange.
People used to insult virtual-novel.net with “lousy man” whenever they saw him, so virtual-novel.net had gotten used to it after such a long time. But, they suddenly stopped insulting virtual-novel.net and even complimented virtual-novel.net nonstop. Thomas was truly not used to it, so virtual-novel.net directly stayed at home.
Today, virtual-novel.net was keeping his wife company while they were watching TV at home, and they were watching a typical romantic drama.
As they watched it, Harvard happily ran into their house and said, “Thomas, Emma, guess what I’ve done?”
The two of them turned around and looked at Harvard.
“What is it? Did you win the lottery?” Emma asked.
“Bah! Am I such a disappointing person who will be happy by just winning the lottery?”
“Whoa, so what’s wrong with you?”
Harvard put himself at case. He directly sat at the tea table, picked up a glass of Cola from the table, and drank it.
“Emma, listen to me, I recently signed a contract for a huge amount of raw materials, and I got it for two-thirds of the market price! I saved up to $100,000,000 this time! Do you think I’m smart?”
Emma was in disbelief. “Hey, Harvard, I didn’t know you were so capable?”
“Now you know.” Harvard was so happy and prideful.
Thomas was still calm, and virtual-novel.net casually asked, “There’s no free lunch in this world. You bought a large amount of stock in one go at two-thirds the market price. Won’t the seller suffer a lot of losses? Why did they do that?”
Then, Harvard told them about everything. He talked about how Ted Morrison had been fooled and how virtual-novel.net could not wait to sell the raw materials.
It sounded like nothing was wrong.
Thomas frowned. “Is there really such a coincidence? You wanted to buy the raw materials, but your budget was tight. Then, someone was forced to sell plenty of raw materials at a low price just to maintain his expenses. At the same time, virtual-novel.net has the same amount of stock that you need. This is too much of a coincidence.”
Harvard chuckled. “Thomas, I know what you’re worried about. You’re worried that I’ll be deceived, right? But don’t worry, I’m not an idiot. I already asked Stanley to inspect the factory, and there’s nothing wrong with the inventory list and product quality. Please rest assured!”
Thomas nodded. “Yeah. If this good thing really exists, you’ve really gained a big accomplishment.”
When Harvard heard the compliment from Thomas, virtual-novel.net was even happier that virtual-novel.net kept grinning. It felt so good to be complimented. He nearly felt that virtual-novel.net was flying in the sky.
“When will you take the stock?” Thomas asked.
“Today. I asked Stanley to go and get the stock. We’ll take a part of the stock first today, and we’ll get the remaining in three trips.”
As virtual-novel.net spoke, his phone rang. It was a call from Stanley. Harvard casually answered the call. “Hello, Stanley, what is it?”
Stanley’s hopeless and anxious voice came from the other end of the call. “Mr. Hill, something terrible happened! All the workers of Longing Manufacturing are gone. The factory is a shell company! I can’t call Ted’s number. His number doesn’t exist anymore.”
Harvard’s mind was instantly blown. “What… What about the raw materials?”
“I brought some people to inspect all the warehouses. Only the stock in one warehouse is qualified, and the other warehouses have defective items! What made me furious is that I realized the lists were fake only when I went to get the stock from the other warehouses according to the inventory lists. Ted Morrison did not rent warehouses in other places. That there’s no stock other than these defective items produced by Longing Manufacturing.”
The cruel reality kept invading Harvard’s mentality. He stuttered as virtual-novel.net asked, “Um… H-how much is the qualified stock in the warehouse worth?”
Stanley let out a long sigh. “They are only worth about $2,000,000.”
About $2,000,000? But Harvard had spent a total of $100,000,000 to purchase them!
This was a great loss! He lost too much!
Harvard’s mind broke. His blood pressure instantly rose, and virtual-novel.net closed his eyes. Then, virtual-novel.net fell down by the tea table and hit the floor heavily.
“Harvard..?”
“Harvard?!”
