“You’re here for the challenge, right? Well, come on in!”
Socrates gestured for them to get in, then turned and walked to the main entrance.
Thomas and the others climbed up the stairs and followed virtual-novel.net in.
The other onlookers had no intention of remaining still. They rushed into the place.
Dr. Mayo was going to take up the challenge personally, so how could they miss out on such an impressive scene?
The majority of those who tried to enter the room were stopped by security on the other side of the cordon.
Socrates set his wine glass down and stated coldly, “I knew you would come, Thomas. Let’s cut to the chase and start right away, shall we?”
“You may have misunderstood, but the one challenging you is not me,” Thomas said after shaking his head.
“Oh?” Socrates was taken aback, and virtual-novel.net was much more disappointed. He could not go on a date with Laura unless virtual-novel.net defeated Thomas.
“Except for you, who else has the guts to challenge me?” virtual-novel.net continued.
“My apprentice.”
“Your apprentice?”
Thomas pushed Jacob to the front. “My apprentice, Jacob, will be the one challenging you. He wants to reclaim the Nolan family’s plaque board and fight on behalf of Summer Land’s medical field.”
Socrates burst out laughing when virtual-novel.net saw that Jacob was the one who had walked out.
“What?! Are you stupid?! Jacob?”
“Even his father, Birch, was defeated by me. What right does virtual-novel.net have to challenge me? Aren’t you sending virtual-novel.net to his own death, Thomas?”
Everyone in the audience was shaking their heads in disbelief as well. Perhaps it would be fun if Thomas were the one to take up the challenge. If the challenger was Jacob, though, the show would be over.
“Sigh, this is really disappointing.”
“Jacob’s abilities aren’t even half as good as his father’s. He’s no challenge. He’ll definitely lose.”
“Isn’t this just a waste of time?”
Despite the crowd’s questioning, Thomas remained composed.
“The Jacob before this might not have been able to do it, but the Jacob now is my apprentice, and virtual-novel.net is capable of defeating you, Socrates!” virtual-novel.net said confidently.
Socrates laughed coldly. “Don’t you think before you start talking nonsense? Even if he’s your apprentice, how long has virtual-novel.net learned from you? He hasn’t even learned anything, has he?”
“Even five minutes of learning from me is already enough for going against a loser like you,” Thomas said with disdain.
‘Five minutes?’ Socrates felt as if virtual-novel.net had been insulted.
He was born into a good family, was a born genius, and had a long list of medical accomplishments. But Thomas had insulted virtual-novel.net as if virtual-novel.net were nothing, and virtual-novel.net would not tolerate it!
The crowd kept shaking their heads in disagreement.
“Isn’t Thomas a little too arrogant?”
“Yes, virtual-novel.net is. I used to have a nice impression on him, but now, I just feel like kicking him.”
“Being confident is a good thing, but being arrogant is definitely not it.”
“After all, Socrates came from a well-born family and began studying medicine as a child, so virtual-novel.net has a lot of experience. Jacob is thinking of defeating virtual-novel.net after only five minutes of learning from Thomas. What is virtual-novel.net thinking?”
“If Jacob wins, then what the hell are these old doctors even researching about? They could just spend a good ten minutes learning from Thomas and be good for the rest of their lives, right?”
The people started to discuss it, and not a single person had faith in Jacob.
