Lord Vedastus met Declan, but they were not on good terms. When they met, they did not even greet each other.
Naturally, there was no need for it either.
“I’d like to meet Luck,” Lord Vedastus went straight to the point.
Declan glanced at him before he said, “You can’t just meet Luck as you please. You can tell me anything, and I’ll pass your message to Luck. In fact, I just talked to Luck and told him about the situation in Celandine City, so you have nothing to tell him.”
That was a reasonable point.
House of Vistaria was the messenger, and under normal situations, Lord Vedastus could not meet Luck. He had to pass his message through a middle person. But the situation was different now.
“I want to meet Luck. I don’t have to repeat myself, do I?” Lord Vedastus said fiercely.
He was furious.
Declan frowned. “Sure, but you know the rules. If you want to meet Luck, you’ll have to…”
He then placed a dagger on the desk.
No one other than the middle person could see Luck. If there was a reason that someone else had to meet Luck, it was doable, but they had to pay a certain price.
The price was to stab themselves with the dagger. They could stab any body part.
Lord Vedastus was someone who had survived danger, so he was not afraid of the price at all.
He cast a glance at the dagger on the table and picked it up without hesitation. Then, he stabbed his thigh.
The dagger pierced his thigh, and blood flowed down along the handle. It looked so painful.
This time, even Declan was speechless. After all, Lord Vedastus had actually followed the rule.
“Come with me…” Declan turned around and walked away.
Lord Vedastus immediately pulled the dagger out before he tore a piece of cloth and took care of his wound. His head was full of sweat as he followed Declan.
Every step he took was so agonizing that he winced in pain.
He should have stabbed his arm. That way, he would not have felt the pain with every step he took. He had made a mistake.
Finally, he fought through the pain and followed Declan to the Temple. Then, Declan turned on the screen and summoned Luck in front of Lord Vedastus.
A while later, a huge dragon appeared on the screen. It was Luck!
The huge dragon head stared at them.
“Lord Vedastus, you’re here…” Luck sounded indifferent.
He did not feel surprised at all, as though he had predicted this would happen.
Lord Vedastus was sweating, and his complexion was pale.
“Luck, I… I need your help with something,” he said in a weak voice.
Luck said, “Are you asking me to help you regain control over Celandine City and eliminate Thomas for you?”
Lord Vedastus was stunned. “Do you already know about it?”
The dragon on the screen scoffed and said, “Everything in Celandine City is under my control. You can’t defeat Thomas, but you’re not willing to accept that, so you’ve come to seek my help. To tell you the truth, I’ve been waiting for this moment for a very long time. Lord Vedastus, you came later than I expected.”
He was incredibly late.
Theoretically, Lord Vedastus should have asked Luck for help much earlier. However, Hayden’s death made him hopeless, and he nearly left Celandine City with Fiora, hence his late arrival.
Nevertheless, he still came in the end, and that was sufficient. It was better late than never.
Luck said, “It’s possible for me to help you. With my abilities, I can regain control over Celandine City at any time. But you should know something. Once you drink the Ancestral Water, you’ll be bound by its covenant, and I won’t interfere with anything in Celandine City from then on.”
