Lord Vedastus thought about it and found the suggestion doable. Even if he failed, he would just lose some money. After all, he had so much money that he could not finish spending it.
“Okay, recruit the expert.”
“Okay!”
In less than an hour, they invited the expert there, but the person they invited was Kendrick, Bryson’s senior from Octopole. He was the unlucky man who had been eliminated by Jones’ punch in less than three seconds.
It was the first time that Kendrick had visited such a luxurious venue, so he was not used to it.
He looked slightly reserved even though he just stood there.
Lord Vedastus looked at him and asked, “I heard that you fought a foreigner named Jones this morning?”
Kendrick nodded. “Yes!”
Lord Vedastus chuckled. Yes, this man, whose name was Kendrick, had defeated Jones.
Although Kendrick did not seem very capable, there was a saying, “Never judge a book by its cover”.
Lord Vedastus snapped his fingers, and someone immediately carried a box over. Once it was opened, they could see that it was full of gold bars.
He said, “Master Bardot, I admire your martial arts skills. You were even able to defeat an expert like Jones, so you have to be a one-of-a-kind fighter. If you’re willing to do me a favor, this box of gold will belong to you!”
Kendrick was stunned.
He could tell that Lord Vedastus mistakenly thought that he had defeated Jones. Although Kendrick did fight Jones in the arena, Jones had beaten him within three seconds, and he was not the one who ended up defeating Jones.
“Urn, Lord Vedastus, you…”
“What’s wrong with me?” Lord Vedastus asked.
Kendrick had initially wanted to say, “You’ve misunderstood the situation, I wasn’t the person who defeated Jones, but it was somebody else.”
However, when he glanced at the box of gold bars, he stopped speaking. If he told the truth, he would lose the box of gold!
Only an idiot would give it up!
Therefore, Kendrick cleared his throat and lied to Lord Vedastus.
“I wanted to say, Lord Vedastus, you don’t have to worry. When I, Kendrick Bardot from Octopole Arena, take action, I can even deal with God, let alone a person,” he said resolutely.
He was bragging a little too much.
Lord Vedastus was ecstatic. “Great, that’s what I want to hear! Master Bardot, please go ahead and have some rest. I’ll invite our enemy over tonight. At that time, please show us your skills.”
“No problem, just count on me!”
“Thank you!”
Lord Vedastus’ subordinates then brought Kendrick out of the office. They booked a room and arranged for Kendrick to stay there. They also served him all kinds of delicious food and drink, giving him plenty of attention.
In the office, Lucia was celebrating for Lord Vedastus.
“I just heard that Kendrick is the senior of Octopole’s person-in-charge, Bryson Torres. He’s outstanding! Also, his achievement of being able to defeat the powerful Jones even proves how capable and terrifying he is. With such a person helping us, won’t Thomas meet his end?”
Lord Vedastus was convinced after he listened to her. “Haha! If I had known such an expert existed in Celandine City, would I have had to suffer so much? Tonight, I’m going to teach Thomas what hopelessness is!”
