Theoretically, both of them should have avoided each other in that situation.
But Odissan did not.
He knew that he would lose, and there was no way for him to defeat Thomas, so why should he avoid anything?
It would be better for him to go all out and let them die together!
His sword pierced Thomas’ chest. However, Thomas’ knife stopped above Odissan’s head, and he did not bring it down.
Odissan wanted to kill Thomas during their battle, but Thomas held back
“Why?” Odissan looked at Thomas in shock.
He did not understand why Thomas would hold back. He was already prepared to die with Thomas.
Blood seeped out from the corner of Thomas’ lips. He stared at a flustered Odissan before he smiled faintly and said, “I lost my younger brother too, so I know the pain and responsibility you feel. If my death can free you, I’ll willingly accept it. Odissan, you remind me too much of my past self.”
Thomas’ words left Odissan speechless.
If Thomas had killed him with one slash, things would have ended in a straightforward manner, and he would have felt relieved. But Thomas sacrificed himself to help him…
Odissan found it unbearable!
Odissan instantly pulled the sword out. His sword did not pierce through Thomas’ heart as he had apparently held back a little. That allowed Thomas to remain alive.
“Thomas, you win! I can’t kill you!”
Odissan then held his sword with both hands.
He broke it in half and threw the pieces on the ground. Following that, he turned around and left. Although he wanted revenge, he could not do it in the face of an enemy like Thomas.
When Thomas saw how Odissan left, he smiled faintly. It was a good end for both of them.
Thomas could no longer support himself, so he lay on the ground and fainted.
Pisces immediately ordered his people to go over.
They carried Thomas into the hospital with a stretcher to rescue him. Luckily, Thomas had an extremely strong body. Besides, the medical facilities there were perfect, and he received treatment in time, hence Thomas’ life was finally saved.
He was just in a pretty critical state.
It had been a long time since the last time Thomas suffered so severely.
Pisces said, “Commander, I’m going to get all the Twelve Golden Zodiacs here to protect you twenty-four-seven. Also, no matter who comes to challenge you, I won’t allow you to accept combat anymore!”
Thomas chuckled and said, “Pisces, you still don’t like to think. Can you protect me forever that way? What we need to do is root out the evildoer and not passively allow ourselves to be attacked.”
Pisces frowned. He did not quite understand what Thomas meant.
Thomas explained, “It’s simple. People are going to come and challenge or assassinate me because Lord Vedastus has offered to give them a reward. If I want to stay alive, the most important thing is to get rid of the kill order.”
Pisces nodded. “Okay, I’ll get someone to kill Lord Vedastus now!”
Thomas waved his hand. “That’s too low and petty. If we play it smarter, we’ll be rewarded more handsomely.”
Pisces moved closer to Thomas, and after he heard the whole plan from Thomas, the gloominess on his face instantly disappeared. Instead, he looked incredibly excited and happy.
“Commander, that’s a great strategy. It’s very doable. Also, I can already imagine the pain on Lord Vedastus’ face! I’ll go ahead and do it now. Commander, please rest well.”
After Pisces spoke, he quickly left the ward and did as Thomas said.
Thomas took a deep breath and looked at the ceiling as he said, “It’s easy to kill a person, but it’s hard to save someone, and it’s especially hard to save someone’s heart. Lord Vedastus, I promised your daughter, Fiora, to make you do the right thing. I’m going to try one last time.”
