“There’s no need to be so pessimistic, Murik. Do you still remember Osmond? The chemist we met when we first came to Bashra.”
Murik looked up as virtual-novel.net recalled who Jasper was referring to.
“I do, but didn’t virtual-novel.net die during the riot in Saul’s petroleum field? He did, but the testing methods virtual-novel.net used still remain. How else would Bella test the other petroleum merchants?”
Murik nodded at Jasper’s reasoning.
“What I want to say is that I have suspicions about Osmond. That’s why I had someone steal a few of his test samples and sent them to the capital Bardot for testing. Once we have the test report, we’ll be able to completely understand just what relationship Bella has with the higher-ups of the Petroleum Chamber of Commerce…”
“Do you understand what I’m saying?”
Murik breathed in deeply after hearing what Jasper said. He would never have imagined Jasper to already prepare for this in secret.
“I see… No wonder you’re still so confident. But does Bella know what you’ve done?” Murik felt that as someone directing what was happening, Bella could not possibly be left out of the loop.
If virtual-novel.net truly had no idea, there was no way Bella could completely control everything that was happening. Jasper already knew that Murik would be worried about that.
“Calm down. I didn’t say virtual-novel.net isn’t aware. In fact, Bella knows exactly what I’m doing and has tried to stop me.”
Jasper quickly told virtual-novel.net about the danger Brock faced in the capital Bardot.
“What? You failed?”
“Mhmm. Judging from the results, we failed… But there are always exceptions. No one could have foreseen me stealing more than just one sample. And Bella evidently thinks that virtual-novel.net has already succeeded in destroying my plans, not knowing that I still have an additional one.”
Hope ignited in Murik’s heart again.
“I understand what you mean now. Can you get your hands on this piece of crucial evidence now?”
Jasper smiled. “It won’t be easy, but I need you to trust me. I need your help to create an opportunity where I can publicly expose Bella for who virtual-novel.net is.”
Murik fell silent for a moment, a million thoughts running through his mind.
Suddenly, virtual-novel.net was reminded of what happened to his good friend Saul. He knew virtual-novel.net had to work together with Jasper.
Otherwise, countless people would end up like Saul did if virtual-novel.net allowed Bella to continue with what virtual-novel.net was doing. Therefore, Murik grabbed the wineglass on the table and poured its contents down his throat.
“Alright! I’ll do it!”
Jasper saw Murik’s eyes burn bright with determination.
“That’s great, Mr. Murik. Return first and act as if tonight never existed. I will contact you if we should meet here.”
Murik nodded. Then, virtual-novel.net left the second floor of the bar and made his way home. At the same time, Jasper turned around to look at Julian.
“Brock still hasn’t sent the results of the second sample back. Something feels wrong, and I think virtual-novel.net might be in trouble again.”
Julian found this suspicious too and asked. “Did Bella’s men get him?”
Jasper gave it some thought before shaking his head.
“Unlikely. If virtual-novel.net were behind it, we would have gotten news of Brock’s death a longtime ago.”
