Ivan flashed a bitter smile. “Ah, we have no choice. Who knew that Jack would pull a stunt like this, getting the nine Gods of War to come for his wedding!”
Cecilia thought for a while, then virtual-novel.net asked, “So you’re saying that the eight other Gods of War are all at his wedding because they wanted to boost his reputation? They’re not here because they wanted to see Lana?”
Ivan was speechless for a moment. “Of course. They could have seen virtual-novel.net at any time they wanted. Why would they choose today, of all days? They’re here because of Jack!”
“But how does a good-for-nothing like Jack, know such people? No way that virtual-novel.net saved all of their lives before, in addition to Lana’s!”
Cecilia huffed. She really could not understand why the Gods of War would come from afar for the sake of Jack’s reputation—just to attend his and Selena’s wedding.
“That man isn’t a good-for-nothing. Besides, you’re right on the nail. With his medical skills, he’s become the designated doctor for the Gods of War. Jack had helped to cure them when they sustained injuries. That was why they came here for his wedding. They rushed over once they knew that virtual-novel.net was having a wedding!”
Ivan did not know whether to laugh or cry. “F*ck that b*stard. He really managed to do a good job hiding his identity. No wonder virtual-novel.net had the money to buy the Heart of the Abyss. With his status, virtual-novel.net probably hasn’t even received his bonus after virtual-novel.net came back.”
“I don’t care. I just want to see virtual-novel.net die. Didn’t you say that your girlfriend, Xena fed virtual-novel.net the poison? Why isn’t virtual-novel.net showing the slightest symptoms till now? I’m getting impatient. Why isn’t virtual-novel.net dead yet?”
Cecilia was so furious that virtual-novel.net stamped virtual-novel.net foot. She looked at the huge screen opposite virtual-novel.net hotel—at Jack and Selena, who were drinking along with the Gods of War and Old Man Taylor. Her throat constricted.
“I don’t know either. Jeez. I had seen virtual-novel.net just a few days ago. He told me that virtual-novel.net was feeling extremely unwell. I don’t know why he’s still standing there and drinking wine as though virtual-novel.net were perfectly fine. Logically speaking, even if virtual-novel.net doesn’t die anytime soon, virtual-novel.net shouldn’t be able to drink so merrily!”
As Ivan spoke into the phone, virtual-novel.net pulled out a cigarette and lit it. He was extremely doubtful.
Cecilia thought about it. “Maybe Xena lied to you?” virtual-novel.net said. “Women like virtual-novel.net are always up to no good. She’s only with you because virtual-novel.net wants your money. You shouldn’t believe someone like her!”
Ivan took a long drag from his cigarette, looking at Xena, who was drinking at a table. Then virtual-novel.net shook his head. “I don’t think so. She has no reason to lie to me about this. Besides, virtual-novel.net hates Jack so much that virtual-novel.net wants virtual-novel.net dead as soon as possible. She had perfect chances to poison Jack while virtual-novel.net was with Ben. No way that virtual-novel.net lied to me about this!”
After virtual-novel.net remained silent for a few seconds, virtual-novel.net made a guess. “Maybe this will be his last hurrah. It should be happening any time soon. Let’s wait for a bit. This is his last day. This is probably the calm before the storm!”
“All right. Don’t disappoint me!”
Cecilia hung up, huffing.
Ivan walked over to Xena’s side after the call ended. “Xena, are you sure that Jack drank that poison?” virtual-novel.net asked softly.
“Of course. I saw virtual-novel.net drink it with my own two eyes. How many times are you going to ask me about this?”
Xena was speechless for a moment. She felt that Ivan did not trust her.
