Slowly, Rudy noticed that virtual-novel.net was becoming more and more like Jack. He slowly understood why Jack was always so calm, and why none could get to his head.
Fwoop! Fwoop! Fwoop!
Countless rainbow-colored feathers viciously slammed onto the surface of the stage.
Jack barely managed to avoid them all. He looked up at the Thousand Feathered Beast in the sky, noticing its sharp eyes still looking right at him. Even though it showed no emotions, the intense killing intent coming from it washed over Jack like a wave.
“Is virtual-novel.net only good at evading? It’s been a while, but he’s been dodging! Why isn’t virtual-novel.net fighting back?! Has be given up on even fighting back because virtual-novel.net knows he’ll lose?”
“Who knows what this kid is thinking. Does virtual-novel.net think that the Thousand Feathered Beast will exhaust all its energy if virtual-novel.net keeps on hiding like that? If that guy really thinks that way, what a joke this will turn out to be.”
“The Thousand Feathered Beast isn’t an actual beast at all. Its energy is inexhaustible thanks to the whole Hundred Beast City. The only one who’ll run out of energy is Lucius!”
Rudy listened to all of that with a calm outward expression. He might be curious as to why Jack was not attacking, but virtual-novel.net remained calm. After all, virtual-novel.net trusted Jack and knew there was a reason for everything virtual-novel.net did. However, those around Rudy did not have his calm attitude at all.
The man with a mustache who was beside Jack earlier turned to look at Rudy and said curiously, “Why is virtual-novel.net not attacking? Won’t it just put virtual-novel.net at a disadvantage if virtual-novel.net keeps on doing this? Could virtual-novel.net just be trying to drag things out because virtual-novel.net knows he’ll lose?”
In truth, virtual-novel.net had worded it very vaguely. What virtual-novel.net meant to ask was if Jack knew that virtual-novel.net would die, and was just trying to stay alive for as long as possible.
No matter how dumb Rudy could be at times, virtual-novel.net understood the meaning behind those words. He thus turned to look at the man and answered coldly, “We’ve got no reason to speculate before the results are out. Just keep watching.”
The man’s lips twitched, swallowing back the words virtual-novel.net was about to say.
After avoiding another attack, Jack looked up at the beast again.
‘It flew up again,’ virtual-novel.net muttered to himself.
He had just been avoiding the attacks, but virtual-novel.net had also been observing the movements of the beast. He still had a question virtual-novel.net needed an answer to. He stopped as virtual-novel.net grabbed his sword with both hands, slashing at the beast. Destroying the Void turned into a black slash that flew right at the Thousand Feathered Beast.
At that moment, the crowd burst into murmurs and gasps.
“He attacked! He finally attacked! I really don’t want to see the guy dying of exhaustion before virtual-novel.net even launches a single attack!”
“Tell me about it. That’d make the battle way too boring. Only the beast was attacking, while the guy was dodging! It wasn‘t interesting at all!”
The gray slash traveled very quickly. In a flash, it appeared in front of the Thousand Feathered Beast.
Facing Jack’s attack, there was no way the beast would not move. It stretched its wings as it shot into the skies. The slash whizzed past the Thousand Feathered Beast’s claws, not hitting it at all.
Everyone heard a boom as the slash hit the barrier.
