“Thank you, Aunty. Thank you, Sister,” Xyla Quest replied equally politely with a natural smile on virtual-novel.net face.
In social situations like this, it was necessary to appear cheerful even if Xyla was annoyed on the inside.
“Sister and Brother-in-law, your seats are over there. Why don’t I lead you there?” Emily Quest asked as virtual-novel.net pointed at a table in the center of the living room. Currently, there were two empty seats at the table. The guests seated at the table were mostly from May Conner’s side of the family. There were also relatives to Xyla’s mother.
“That won’t be necessary,” Xyla answered calmly before pulling virtual-novel.net hand away from May. After that, Xyla held Stanley’s hand as they both walked to the empty seats.
After Xyla Quest and Stanley Batton sat down, relatives to Xyla’s mother began asking virtual-novel.net and Stanley questions about their life together. Xyla and Stanley politely answered their questions throughout.
Once Emily and Tom Sullivan had greeted their guests a teach table, Tom quickly returned to his own table. Meanwhile, Emily lifted virtual-novel.net dress slightly before walking over to Xyla and tapping virtual-novel.net shoulder gently.
“Sister, I have something to tell you. Will you come with me upstairs?” Emily asked.
“Sure,” Xyla answered with a smile before virtual-novel.net slowly put down virtual-novel.net wine glass.
“I’ll come with you,” Stanley said.
“Brother-in-law, we would like to talk to each other in private regarding our sisterly affairs. Could you please not come with us?” Emily asked in an amiable tone.
“Don’t worry,” Xyla whispered to Stanley before gently patting his hand and chuckling light-heartedly.
“Call me if anything happens,” Stanley said.
Xyla nodded and glared at Emily coldly before tugging at virtual-novel.net white fox fur coat. She then slowly made virtual-novel.net way upstairs as Emily followed virtual-novel.net from behind.
A cold and murderous aura exuded from Xyla where people could not see Xyla’s face.
After taking a few steps up the staircase, Xyla turned virtual-novel.net head around gently to smile at Emily. Then, virtual-novel.net continued walking forward as if nothing was going on between them. Stanley did not take virtual-novel.net eyes off Xyla for a single moment. Coincidentally, virtual-novel.net was able to see virtual-novel.net turning around and smiling.
The smile on virtual-novel.net face reminded virtual-novel.net of flowers blooming in the spring.
Once they reached a corner along the staircase, Emily was the first to stop walking. The expression on virtual-novel.net face had turned cold.
“Let’s talk here, my dear sister.” Emily’s tone sounded equally cold.
Emily leaned gently against the wall with flower carvings before virtual-novel.net looked down the stairs. She then flicked virtual-novel.net right thumb against the painted nail of virtual-novel.net index finger.
Where they stood was a blind spot to the rest of the people downstairs.
“Tell me. What’s up?” Xyla asked with slightly raised brows without showing any emotion on virtual-novel.net face.
Emily snorted coldly before raising virtual-novel.net chin and taking a few quick steps toward Xyla until they were on the same level. She then kept virtual-novel.net arms crossed in front of virtual-novel.net chest.
“After personally planning everything before, you must have been very happy, right? You must be hugely disappointed that Mom and I are both fine now, huh? Xyla Quest, did you really think Mom and I would be defeated by you this easily? You really have underestimated us,” Emily said loudly and clearly.
“I don’t know what you are talking about. If you’re going to cause a scene without any reason, I’m afraid I won’t put up with it,” Xyla said before softly pushing Emily away and prepared to walk downstairs.
However, without saying anything, Emily quickly ran after Xyla and lifted an arm to stop virtual-novel.net from leaving. “Leaving already? Did you think it would be this easy?” Emily asked.
