There were all sorts of delicacies on the coffee table, all of which were Xyla’s favorites. The dishes included beef noodle, stir-fried vegetables, braised sea cucumber with scallions, stewed pigeon soup, pumpkin porridge, and eggplant with minced pork.
“Did you order all these?” Xyla asked.
“Yeah. They’re all your favorites,” Stanley Batton said before tugging at Xyla’s hand and sitting down. He then sat Xyla on one of his legs. “Did you miss me? Hmm?” He asked.
His warm breath spread across Xyla’s neck, making her feel as if an electric current was flowing through her entire body. Her heart began to beat wildly in that instant.
“Yeah. How about you?” Xyla nodded gently.
After that, Stanley shifted her body such that she was sitting right on his lap. He then circled his arms around her waist and pressed his forehead against hers. “I miss you… A lot. I wished I could be an accessory you wear on your body.”
When Xyla heard the sweet things he said, she felt extremely happy on the inside. “You are such a sweet-talker.” Xyla smiled widely.
“What I said is true…” Stanley said.
“Okay. I’ll force myself to believe you…” Xyla said. She was enjoying this sweet romance a lot.
“Are you free for the rest of the afternoon?” Stanley asked.
“Yeah… I’ve finished all my work,” Xyla said.
“Why don’t you stay here with me?” He asked.
“Why didn’t I realize you were this clingy before?” Xyla asked.
“It’s not too late to realize it now,” Stanley said.
“Fine.” Xyla nodded.
“It’s decided then. I’ll pass you my laptop and tablet later. You can use them to play games or watch videos. It’s up to you,” Stanley said.
Xyla turned around to look at his desk. There was only one laptop on the table.
“Aren’t you worried that I might steal all the confidential stuff related to work from your laptop?” Xyla said jokingly.
“I’m hungry,” Xyla said and chuckled.
“Let’s eat…” Stanley immediately put her down before handing her a pair of chopsticks.
After taking the chopsticks, Xyla picked up a bowl of rice and began digging in.
Knock, knock, knock…
Right then, someone knocked on the door.
“Come in,” Stanley said.
The door was opened right away. Zack Cassidy quickly walked in. When he saw Xyla, he nodded at her politely before walking over to Stanley.
Xyla recognized his face.
Back in the shopping mall where she had a conflict with Mary Sullivan, Zack was the one who represented Stanley and kicked Mary out. He even told Mary that she had been blacklisted, and she would never be allowed into any shopping mall owned by Stanley.
Xyla politely nodded at him with a smile on her face.
“Master Batton, about the meeting we hadn’t finished the last time… Should we do it this afternoon?” Zack asked carefully.
“Yeah,” Stanley answered.
“In that case, I’ll inform the rest to wait for you in the meeting room after lunch,” Zack replied to confirm.
“Let’s not do it at the meeting room,” Stanley requested.
“Where do we go then?” Zack seemed confused.
