Sol, somewhere.
This was a bungalow.
James laid quietly on the bed.
Thomas had already tapped his acupoints, and if the acupoints were not unlocked, he would not wake up.
Thomas sat by the bed, looking at James who was sleeping peacefully.
He looked at James with a reluctant expression.
Since James left the Southern Plains last year and headed to Cansington, he always kept his eye on James. When he could not personally observe him, he had someone else watch over James in his stead. Thus, he knew where James had been throughout the entirety of the past year.
This was how he knew that James had been to Polaris Sect.
Over the past few decades, Thomas traveled all over the world. As long as the sect had some sort of renown, he had visited almost all of them and secretly learned their signature martial art techniques.
Naturally, he had also been to Polaris Sect and learned their signature martial art technique as well. However, this martial arts was not suitable for him.
Now he was not sure if James had ever been to the Holy Fire Cave of the Polaris Sect, and he did not know if James had read Nine Scriptures of Ordeals.
If so, then he wanted to help James, if he hadn’t seen it, then he was pushing James into the fire.
He was lost in thought on this matter.
He turned and left, not long after, he turned back again. However, this time he changed his appearance. By weaving a human skin mask, he became another person.
That was Archbishop Polaris, the leader of Polaris Sect, also known as Zekiel Polaris.
His purpose of pretending to be Zekiel was to test James, to find out if James had read the Nine Scriptures of Ordeals, if not, then passed it on to him as the leader of the Polaris Sect.
After entering the room, he unlocked James’s acupuncture points.
Not long after, James woke up. He opened his eyes slightly.
At this moment, he felt a headache, as if he had slept for a long time.
“Thea…” James called out,
“You’re awake…” A voice came from beside the bed.
“W-Who is that?”
The voice was not Thea’s, which made James vigilant.
“It’s me, I’m Archbishop Polaris…” Thomas pretended to be Archbishop Polaris and said.
James turned his head slightly, and saw the person sitting by the bed.
He saw Archbishop Polaris clearly, and couldn’t help but heaved a sigh of relief, but then he became vigilant again, because the environment here was not right.
“W-Where am I?”
Thomas smiled and said, “Let me explain… After I came to Sol, I searched for you everywhere and finally found you after an arduous journey. Thea had something to attend to in Cansington and asked me to take care of you for a few days.”
“Alright…” Hearing this, James relaxed his body a little.
He muttered, “I can’t believe Thea didn’t tell me anything before leaving… Oh, by the way, my head and back are killing me right now. I feel like I was out for a considerable amount of time…”
“It hasn’t been that long… You only slept for a day…”
“Where is this place?”
“It’s next to the manor where you and Thea live. I’m living here for the time being. After Thea left, I brought you here to my place…”
James could sense something was not quite right but could not out his finger on it.
“By the way… Have you discerned the meaning behind the Nine Scriptures of Ordeals yet?”
Hearing Thomas asking about the Nine Scriptures of Ordeals further put James’ heart at ease. He felt reassured that the Polaris before him was indeed who he said he was.
It was impossible for outsiders to know about the Polaris Sect’s signature martial art technique because the technique was a heavily guarded secret in the sect.
James gently shook his head and said, “I haven’t practiced it much prior to this and have just only begun to understand the gist of it. There are many things that I still don’t understand…”
“With your condition, it’ll be a huge challenge to restore your strength. The only option is to use our sect’s Nine Scriptures of Ordeals. All this time I’ve been trying to understand the essence of it, but it’s likely I won’t be able to master it in time. How about I pass on what I’ve learned to you?”
