“Surprise? What kind of surprise?” Caitlyn blinked, unable to hide her curiosity.
“It’s not a surprise if I tell you…” George smiled and kept Caitlyn in suspense.
“Oh, Brother Stefan, don’t you know your sister has OCD? It’s immoral of you not to finish your sentences!” Caitlyn reached for George’s arm, half-angry and half-coquettish as she spoke.
Her clear eyes looked aggrieved, making it hard for others to refuse her.
“I’m not telling you. You’ll find out tomorrow after you reach the place,” George smiled and shook his head, still standing firm to his ground.
“Oh, the suspense is killing me!” Caitlyn pouted in frustration.
She knew George’s character. There was no way he would tell her if he did not want to talk about. She could only give up.
“I’ll send Anne to pick you up tomorrow. Go there with Aunt May,” George slowly turned around and said as he looked at Caitlyn.
George was going to tell May and Caitlyn tomorrow that the land was the orphanage’s future home. The surroundings of the orphanage would be equipped with a school, hospital, and other amenities.
“Don’t bother, Brother George. Aunt May and I probably don’t have time to go over…” Caitlyn shook her head gently, knowing that the orphanage had so many children who could not live without them.
Anne had hired several caretakers to help them out. However, there was no way May could trust her children with anyone else.
“I know. But you’re going no matter what tomorrow,” George nodded gently Adrian knew what Caitlyn was thinking.
However, as the head of the orphanage, May had to attend the opening of the new orphanage. George wanted to surprise them in person.
“Well… Alright then…” Caitlyn hesitated for a few seconds before agreeing anyway.
After all, George knew about the orphanage’s condition. Adrian would not insist if it was not important
“But you don’t have to ask Anne to pick us up. You know Aunt May and l have a lot to do. So, we can’t confirm the time, and it’s not good to keep Anne waiting too long. When we’re done, give us the location, and we’ll take the bus there…”
“Joules Town has a wide range of bus routes, so it’s easy to get anywhere,” Caitlyn looked at George and said.
Having lived without her parents since childhood, Caitlyn had developed the character of not bothering others whenever she could.
“Silly girl…” George reached out and rubbed the back of Caitlyn’s head.
“Let’s wait till you’re done then. Let me know when you’re done, and I’ll send Anne to pick you up. It’s probably around half past eight.” George thought for a moment before saying to Caitlyn.
“Okay! Got it!” Caitlyn nodded sweetly and agreed with a smile.
“Come on. Let’s shop for clothes.” George turned around and retraced his steps.
“Brother Stefan, let’s not waste money… Aunt May told me not to let you spend any more money…” Caitlyn hesitated for two seconds before saying sheepishly.
After all, George had been spending a lot of money on them since he got back. Besides the supplies he sent to the orphanage, George also bought Caitlyn a house.
George hired the orphanage’s security guards and caretakers.
It made May and Caitlyn slightly uncomfortable. It was not that they wanted to be polite to George but they knew he had just retired from the army. Even if he had some money, he should not spend it like that!
“The last thing your brother needs is money. Come on. Let’s also buy Aunt May some outfits,” George smiled and stepped into the car.
Tomorrow marked the start of the construction at Campbell District.
As George’s family, May and Caitlyn should not dress too shabbily for such an important occasion. George did not care about external factors. However, he was new chairman of Lennon Group after all. Adrian should pay attention to their image.
“Alright.” Caitlyn nodded gently and followed in George’s footsteps.
George walked slowly ahead under the streetlamp, his shadow stretching long across the ground.
With her hands behind her back, Caitlyn stepped on George’s shadow one step at a time. The way she had her hands behind her back as she trotted earnestly was amusing.
However, Caitlyn was earnest. Whenever George took a step, she trotted a step too.
“By the way…” Suddenly, George remembered something, stopped abruptly, and turned around.
Bang!
The next second, Caitlyn bumped into George’s chest.
“Ah… It hurts!” Caitlyn covered her nose with her hand, tears welling up in her eyes.
