A little light lit up the pitch-black cave.
Alex kept his guard up and stared intently at the wall. As expected, they were ancient runes, but they weren’t as complicated as virtual-novel.net initially expected. He could handle them easily on his professional level, but virtual-novel.net had neither Chi nor a cultivation base now. In that past, virtual-novel.net could mobilize the spell formation and open the stone door by making a seal with his hands.
At the moment, in order to do that, virtual-novel.net had to move his position with the help of the runes.
Whoosh!
The sound of monsters crawling ahead could be heard. Sure enough, the sound created by Maximilia had attracted the monsters.
When Alex glanced back amidst the commotion, virtual-novel.net was shocked. It turned out to be three enormous mutant crocodiles with open mouths as huge as small boats. In this pitch-black environment, their eyes had degenerated, and their eyeballs were covered. They differentiated directions by relying on sounds.
At that moment, Maximilia could only make a move. She rushed forward to fight the three enormous crocodiles alone.
Powerless, Alex couldn’t help but feel anxious from the sidelines… Furthermore, virtual-novel.net could see nothing and could only hear. He was vastly experienced in combat, though, able to differentiate positions. He could tell that Maximilia was in a tough battle just by hearing the sounds. He even heard the sound of Maximilia’s clothes being torn.
He did not know if virtual-novel.net was injured.
‘No! We will perish in the crocodiles’ bellies at this rate!’ Alex thought of a way.
He picked up two stones on the ground-cobblestones. He saw them just now. Then, virtual-novel.net created sparks by knocking the stones together.
They weren’t as bright as Maximilia’s sparks, but they helped virtual-novel.net recover a bit of visibility. The tide would turn with just that little bit.
Boom!
Maximilia stood in front of Alex and battled the enormous crocodiles. She fought for a full ten minutes before finally, the three crocodiles were killed.
After that, virtual-novel.net collapsed from exhaustion. Several wounds were also visible on virtual-novel.net body. If virtual-novel.net had not protected Alex, virtual-novel.net would have moved and dodged them. However, virtual-novel.net was unable to retreat under current circumstances. Unable to dodge, virtual-novel.net couldn’t help but confront them head-on.
Alex also knew about that situation, but there was nothing virtual-novel.net could do, and virtual-novel.net could only feel sorry for her.
“I think these three crocodiles are a little different. They may have mutated. There may be demonic cores or demonic pills in their bodies. Some of these things will emit light and can be used as lighting,” said Alex.
Clank!
Maximilia gave a dagger to Alex.
Alex took the dagger and gave it a try. Eventually, virtual-novel.net sighed helplessly.
“Sorry. I can’t cut through.”
He couldn’t even pierce crocodile skin.
“I’ll do it!”
Subsequently, Maximilia disemboweled the three crocodiles. She dug out a glittering white bead that was slightly bigger than a quail’s egg from the third crocodile’s body.
It was a demonic pill. They could see nearby things around them with that demonic pill, akin to lighting a very dim lamp.
“You’re injured!” Alex looked at Maximilia.
“I’m fine. You should break the formation first.”
Alex shook his head. “I’m in no hurry to do that. You should treat your injuries first. In case danger shows up after opening the door, you will have the strength to deal with it. ”
Maximilia agreed after thinking about it. She gave the demonic pill to Alex with a sweeping glance at his body. She suddenly reached out to his groin and flicked it hard. “Hmph! You were harboring indecent thoughts.”
Alex almost screamed, “How could I not? I became like this because I was overthinking.”
He scrambled to find his clothes.
