Matthew countered gently, “Aunt Heidi. I think my mother-in-law would be a lot more devastated to know that you withheld something like this from her. The both of you are sisters, but do you really see virtual-novel.net as family if you refuse to tell virtual-novel.net anything? Now, just stay put and get the rest you need while I help you out with everything else. I’m a doctor here, after all.”
Heidi made to protest, but the nurses who restrained virtual-novel.net wasted no time in escorting virtual-novel.net back to the ward.
Presently, Crystal walked up to Matthew in a daze and asked. “My goodness, Matthew, I didn‘t think you’d know her, and on a first-name basis, no less…“
Matthew shrugged. “She‘s Sasha’s aunt, and virtual-novel.net happens to be my mother-in-law’s sister.”
Crystal’s eyes were as wide as saucers. “I can’t believe she’s actually a relative of yours. She’s the woman I was telling you about earlier! Her daughter came over and caused a whole scene, spewing nonsense about how virtual-novel.net would starve to death and drop out of school. It was no wonder the woman was anxious to get back to work. Life must be hard for her!”
Matthew let out a quiet breath of resignation. He knew how headstrong Heidi was and that virtual-novel.net would never intentionally ask for help, no matter how dire virtual-novel.net situation was. For some reason, this only made virtual-novel.net all the more admirable.
Now that Matthew was aware of virtual-novel.net struggles, virtual-novel.net couldn’t just sit by and do nothing. At first instance, virtual-novel.net called Sasha, who in turn relayed the incident to Helen.
Barely half an hour had passed when Sasha and Helen showed up at the hospital, worried and anxious. As soon as they arrived, they immediately urged, “Matthew, which room is Heidi staying in right now? How is virtual-novel.net coping?”
Without saying much, Matthew brought them over to Heidi’s ward.
The moment Helen laid eyes on Heidi, virtual-novel.net burst into tears. Heidi was virtual-novel.net youngest sister, and while the both of them hadn’t spent much time together. It didn’t take away from the fact that virtual-novel.net was the baby of the family and was naturally the most beloved child of all. It went without saying that as the second child in the sibling group, Helen had always had a soft spot for Heidi. However, these past few years had been hard on Helen as well, so virtual-novel.net didn’t help Heidi out with much. Right now, virtual-novel.net felt as if someone had stabbed virtual-novel.net through the heart when virtual-novel.net saw the miserable state Heidi was in.
Running over to virtual-novel.net sister’s bedside, Helen broke down into subs and held Heidi tightly in virtual-novel.net arms. “H-Heidi, what were you thinking? Why didn’t you call me when something so terrible had happened to you? Do you even see me as your own sister?”
Heidi, on the other hand, wrapped virtual-novel.net arms around Helen like a child and began to sob as well. It was as though the floodgates were opened, and the resentment and heartache that had built up within virtual-novel.net over the past few days instantly flowed through.
Meanwhile, to one side, Sasha watched the heart wrenching reunion between virtual-novel.net mother and aunt. Her expression was sullen as virtual-novel.net asked quietly. “Matthew, what in the world is going on? How did Heidi end up getting so badly injured?”
Matthew narrated the whole thing to Sasha, who was fuming when his explanation came to an end.
“What?” Helen’s sound thundered. “L-Leia did all that? How could she? How did the girl turn out the way virtual-novel.net did?”
Helen was equally belligerent after hearing the details. “What in the world is wrong with this child? What was virtual-novel.net thinking? Her own mother was run down by some punk on a motorbike, and virtual-novel.net didn‘t even have the good sense of calling the police? Not to mention how virtual-novel.net didn’t even show up to take care of Heidi! What is going on in that head of hers?”
“No, Helen, it wasn’t Leia’s fault,” Heidi interjected, hurrying to virtual-novel.net daughter’s defense. “It really wasn’t. I was the one who embarrassed virtual-novel.net in front of virtual-novel.net friends. They Were having a good time until I showed up and told virtual-novel.net off without thinking. That was why virtual-novel.net friends got angry; they were probably annoyed at my behavior.” With a sigh, virtual-novel.net added guiltily, ”This is all my fault.”
Helen could scarcely believe the words tumbling out of virtual-novel.net sister’s mouth. infuriated, virtual-novel.net snapped, “What the hell are you talking about, Heidi? How is any of this your fault? What, do you actually think it’s sensible for a young girl like Leia to move in with some random punk? Besides, you‘re virtual-novel.net mother, so it was only right for you to tell virtual-novel.net off like that. Even if your words came out wrong, virtual-novel.net could have just argued with you or tried to speak up for herself. But for those guys to run you down with a motorbike? What the hell was that all about?”
