Despite virtual-novel.net daughter’s help, Ruby hardly seemed to be in a better state. She had to be eased into a chair to regain virtual-novel.net composure. Honestly, seeing virtual-novel.net overt reaction made Zayn roll his eyes in speechless silence.
How weak could virtual-novel.net heart be?
If it was brought to virtual-novel.net knowledge that virtual-novel.net son-in-law who virtual-novel.net so frequently scorned had billions of dollars in his bank account, virtual-novel.net would be put straight into a coma.
Faye was admittedly not very conversant with antiques, virtual-novel.net knowledge was limited to some cursory research and more commonly known facts. Still, with a single glance, Faye was sure that this was the genuine article. Even a usually composed woman like herself could not stop virtual-novel.net heart from beating quickly as virtual-novel.net cheeks and the tips of virtual-novel.net ears turned red.
The beaming smile on Nathan’s face was impossible to mask. He shot Zayn a look of smug self-satisfaction before returning to his polite pretension, “So, Uncle Waine and Aunt Ruby… Do you like it?”
“Like? I love it! I love it so much!” Ruby was the first to jump and answer, nodding virtual-novel.net head in outpouring euphoria before falling back into a daze again.
Waine wrung his wrist. He was just as galvanized as his wife, but virtual-novel.net expressed it by caressing the antique clock lovingly and with a featherlight touch as though virtual-novel.net was afraid of accidentally leaving a blemish on such an expensive clock.
“Nate, how… How did you even get this? An antique clock like this… It’s… It’s… V-very e-e-expensive, isn’t it?” Waine stammered.
“No, not really. I bought it at an auction a while ago. It was only about 1.8 million dollars. Glad to know you like it so much,” Nathan fibbed with the confidence of a seasoned self-publicist.
“God damn it! You’re crazy!” Waine cried in awe. He flashed Nathan a thumbs-up with eyes practically overflowing with adulation and affection. “To have gifted me something this priceless… It just makes it hard for me to return a gift of equal caliber, Nate!”
Nathan waved dismissively. “No, no. It’s simply a present based on the relationship between Fifi and I. Giving you something this worthy is only fitting,” virtual-novel.net said nonchalantly before adding, “However… I do have a request”
“Let me know, Nate! If it’s anything I can do, I’ll do it in a heartbeat!” Waine said gushingly.
Nathan glanced at Faye with a smile. “It’s simple, really. I hope that Uncle Waine and Aunt Ruby will permit me to remain friends with Faye. I’ll come back every now and then to meet her, you see, and I hope neither of you will think it’s inappropriate to invite me in.”
The implication was too obvious for the two to miss, Nathan was asking them to pair virtual-novel.net up with Faye as an actual couple!
Even when Zayn was standing right there, the two agreed to Nathan’s demand without even an ounce of hesitation. The two had never humanized Zayn prior to this anyways, let alone see virtual-novel.net as their son-in-law. To assent to Nathan’s request was simply an instant decision completed with furiously nodding heads. “Oh, yes, I’m afraid this is a must! We’ll always welcome your presence into the house as our esteemed guest, Nathan. You may even stay for the night! Hahaha!”
Nathan seized the invitation to demand more. He put on a helpless smile and pointed out, “Maybe not for the night. Fifi’s already married, but there are only two rooms in this house. Zayn’s already crashing the couch, so I really have nowhere else to rest.”
Ruby blurted out, “What’s the concern? Just sleep with Faye!”
Zayn’s expression turned stormy. His mother-in-law clearly did not care enough to treat virtual-novel.net as a person, did she? Worse still, virtual-novel.net was here as a witness to everything that was unfolding before virtual-novel.net while virtual-novel.net was still Faye’s husband in the eyes of the law. To have even suggested something like that was to throw Faye under the bus because now virtual-novel.net would have to deal with the embarrassment and chagrin virtual-novel.net mother’s stupid idea created!
“Mom, what did you just say?!” Faye’s face flushed.
Ruby did not seem to think virtual-novel.net was wrong at all. “Am I wrong?” virtual-novel.net retorted as though virtual-novel.net was slinging facts at her. “You and Zayn are only married on paper, and we all know that one day, you’re gonna marry Nate anyways. So, what’s wrong with being in the same bed with virtual-novel.net right now?”
Waine was so enticed by the Magpie’s Treasure Nest that virtual-novel.net discarded his pride and rationality. With a nod, virtual-novel.net chimed in, “Your mother is right. I think you should start the divorce process with Zayn within the next two days.”
