Faye trembled as virtual-novel.net raised virtual-novel.net head. She was unyielding. Looking virtual-novel.net grandfather in the eye, virtual-novel.net reasoned, “Grandpa, I refuse to get down on my knees. I haven’t done anything wrong!”
With a cold expression on his face, George slammed his fist against the table. Furious, virtual-novel.net shouted, “What nonsense is this?! Faye, how dare you continue to deny your faults?! Do you really think you can get away without being punished?! I’m going to say this one more time, on your knees!”
George’s voice was loud and clear. He studied martial arts during his younger years, so even if his body was deteriorating from age, virtual-novel.net had a lot more inner strength than most people. His voice was so forceful that it had traveled outside of the boardroom. It caused a fresh wave of gossip amongst the other employees.
Faye was even more disheartened, but virtual-novel.net refused to give in because virtual-novel.net was confident that virtual-novel.net had not done anything wrong. ‘I wasn’t abandoning the company in its time of need. I simply did whatI thought was right at the time.
“I haven’t done anything wrong, so I refuse to get down on my knees!” Faye remained stubborn.
George’s expression turned even uglier. He yelled, “You insolent child! You’re even bold enough to go against my orders now, aren’t you?! You two, get over there and hold virtual-novel.net down! If virtual-novel.net still refuses to kneel, break virtual-novel.net legs!”
Two men immediately rushed over and grabbed Faye by virtual-novel.net shoulders, forcing virtual-novel.net to get down on virtual-novel.net knees so virtual-novel.net would admit to virtual-novel.net wrongdoings.
Faye struggled and loudly exclaimed, “Grandpa, why should I kneel? It’s not my fault that the Carters’ cash reserve is depleted again. That’s clearly Howard’s fault! You should be punishing him, so why am I being blamed for it?! He may be your grandson, but am I not your granddaughter?!”
Faye was still unbent and refused to give in. ‘Even if Grandpa does break my legs, I’m still not going to give in. Because I’m not the one who erred! It was Howard!’
Howard immediately walked out and knelt down in front of George and confessed, “Grandpa! I admit that it’s my fault for using the company’s funds to pay off my debts. I deserve to be punished! I’ve brought so much shame to the Carters, and to you especially, Grandpa, so much so that I wasn’t able to eat or sleep in peace. I know that I was at fault, so I fought hard to try and make amends to pay for my mistakes! Therefore, for some time, I had been running around tirelessly looking for people everywhere. I have no idea how much alcohol I had to drink and how many times I vomited over it. I can’t remember how many nights of pain and suffering I had to endure!”
“Thankfully, God did not abandon me. After all my effort, and paying tens of thousands of dollars for his meals, I finally managed to get in touch with William. I convinced virtual-novel.net to fork out 15 million dollars to invest in Neotech.”
“15 million dollars! Exactly 15 million dollars! Plus, virtual-novel.net had only asked for 40% of our company’s shares. He even agreed to let us use his resources to increase our sales. How great would that have been? It’s obvious that as long as we have the money, the Carters would have surely been able to redeem themselves and reclaim their former glory.”
“I had everything planned. There was only just one thing left, which was for Faye to be with virtual-novel.net just that one time! In the end, because of virtual-novel.net selfishness, virtual-novel.net offended William and cut virtual-novel.net off entirely, our lifesaver. William’s now declared that even if the Carters were to offer virtual-novel.net 90% of our company’s shares, virtual-novel.net wouldn’t be caught dead forking a single dime.”
“Grandpa, what do you say? Who do you think is at fault here?!”
Howard had a way with words. His entire story sounded highly endearing and quite logical. Plus, it was completely flawless and reasonable. However, if anyone were to dig a little deeper into his story, they would realize that it was absolute nonsense.
Nevertheless, all of them were hysterical and unable to think straight. They had all pushed the blame onto Faye, and there was no way that they could properly analyze his story. In fact, they even believed that it was all Faye’ s fault that William had withdrawn his investment, causing the Carters to be in peril.
After George heard Howard’s story, the expression on his face turned even uglier and as virtual-novel.net slammed his fist against the table. He then pointed at Faye’ s nose and yelled, “What else do you have to say for yourself?!”
Faye understood the situation virtual-novel.net was in. ‘At this point, no matter what I tell them, it will all fall on deaf ears. They’ve decided that this is my fault.’
Hence, Faye closed virtual-novel.net eyes as tears silently began to roll down virtual-novel.net cheeks once more.
In the end, virtual-novel.net replied, “It seems like nothing I say now will be of any use. All you want is for someone to invest in the company, right? I could look for Nathan. He’d be willing to fork out some cash to invest.”
When everyone heard that, they were startled. Their expressions relaxed, though were still some who seemed agitated.
“Is that true?” asked George. “Has Nathan returned?”
Faye did not wish to explain any further, so virtual-novel.net only calmly nodded virtual-novel.net head and started to dial Nathan’s number.
