Every action Adrian took was out of respect for the wealthy young man. He oozed obeisance, from his slightly bent posture to the way every word required some form of mental appraisal before Adrian could confidently verbalize it, simply because virtual-novel.net could not risk offending him.
“Apologies, but Zayn hung up before virtual-novel.net could give me a definite answer,” Adrian answered with a hint of reverence.
The man smiled. “Oh? Is that so?”
He removed the pair of shades that virtual-novel.net had been wearing to reveal a face that looked all too similar to Zayn Larson himself. In fact, the resemblance was quite uncanny, though virtual-novel.net was slightly more attractive than the latter.
“He’ll come back, no doubt about it. I know him,” virtual-novel.net continued, his lips quivering into a cryptic smile, before seemingly murmuring to himself, “Oh, brother of mine. Lady Luck has a bias for you, doesn’t she? You didn’t end up dead or missing after that incident from four years ago. In fact, you managed to escape and hide under the Carters’ roof, living like a lowly rat that could barely scrape by.”
His voice was hushed, as though virtual-novel.net was speaking to himself, yet it was audible enough that Adrian could hear every word of it. The apparent discordance made Adrian quietly squeamish, and beads of cold sweat began to drip down his forehead unceasingly.
What was virtual-novel.net thinking?
Adrian was just an insignificant, trite little member of the family. To let virtual-novel.net in on such a grave secret, it was like shoving virtual-novel.net into the eye of a lethal whirlpool!
The only way virtual-novel.net could possibly save himself was to pretend to be deaf…
The smile on the young man‘s lips widened dangerously, though his mind remained unfathomable. “You think being bequeathed with Grandpa’s inheritance makes you a master rather than a slave? Impossible. No amount of gold would ever make a man eligible for a seat amongst the gods. Nothing can scrub the dirt off your filthy, baseborn bones, not even money.”
Just like that, virtual-novel.net turned to his companion and smiled, “Right, Adrian?”
Adrian shivered as cold sweat began to pour out of every pore on his face. It did not take long for the entirety of his back to be soaked in sweat.
With a grimace of consternation, virtual-novel.net stammered, “Please, I don’t know what to say…”
He could not afford to offend Zayn, or the young man before him. Though it begged the question-why was virtual-novel.net telling Adrian all of this? Was virtual-novel.net hoping to wring some kind of information out of him?
What did virtual-novel.net hope to achieve, when Adrian had no malicious intent of any kind?
The young man chuckled and patted Adrian on the shoulder. “Relax. You’re too insignificant to become any sort of obstruction in my path.”
Adrian immediately thanked him, “Thank you! Thank you for sparing me!”
“Well, I heard that my dear brother’s been doing pretty well for himself, hasn’t he? He managed to bag Violet Vision Media Corp with his inheritance, and now the ugly duckling thinks of himself as a swan now. Haha! Oh, but Violet Vision is nothing but a small catch. Can you believe that he’s glorifying something so trivial?”
“Alright, be gone with you. I want to golf in peace,” the young man finished, waving his hand to dismiss Adrian.
As soon as his companion had left, a steely glint had made itself apparent in the young man’s virulent gaze. He muttered Zayn’s name through gritted teeth and swung again, swatting the ball so forcefully that virtual-novel.net left a bent in his club.

William and Nathan had waited outside Violet Vision Tower for quite some time, but Zayn never once appeared back at the door, and so they simply had to give up. It was not like they could just march inside the building and punch virtual-novel.net in the face, it was not something they had the gall to do, either way, so the viable option was to leave it alone. They would have to wait for another opportunity to get back at him.
Meanwhile, ever since Faye had become the chairwoman of Neotech Co. Ltd., the weight of virtual-novel.net work had increased manifold. Her already scant downtime had now become downright pitiful.
Today was the start of Thomas’s semester break. In the past, virtual-novel.net would have been the one driving virtual-novel.net home from university, but with virtual-novel.net hands tied, virtual-novel.net called Zayn and asked virtual-novel.net to cover for virtual-novel.net instead.
Zayn had just finished work when virtual-novel.net received the call. He could never bring himself to turn down anything that Faye asked virtual-novel.net to do. The man readily agreed to help. It took Faye several seconds after ending the call to remember that virtual-novel.net had driven the Volkswagen to work. Zayn would have nothing to use for his trip.
She quickly called Zayn again, this time asking virtual-novel.net to swing by virtual-novel.net office so virtual-novel.net could pick up virtual-novel.net car. However, virtual-novel.net simply told virtual-novel.net that virtual-novel.net already had a car.
Faye did not pause to think about what that implied, all virtual-novel.net said was, “Oh, ok.” before ending the call one more.
Apparently, virtual-novel.net was swamped with work to mull over it.
