When Life Takes a Turn

When Life Takes a Turn – Chapter 0255

Fear clouded him. There was no way that Thomas and his unimpressively small figure could ever overpower the two athletes in front of him.

With his head hanging low and his voice even lowlier, Thomas muttered, “I just wanna go home. Please let me through.”

Seeing how they could not provoke Thomas into fighting back, the two athletes held off on their bullying too. In the end, they gave him the finger before letting him pass.

The hoo-ha they created had attracted many eyes, and soon, accusatory fingers followed. They were laughing at him, jeering and sneering. Thomas had never felt so humiliated in his life. He could feel a sniffle coming on, but he blinked back the tears in his eyes as his walk quickened into a jog down the stairs. He just wanted to go home, the sooner, the better.

What awaited him downstairs, however, was Cara Davis, who had the most dazzling smile he had ever seen. She casually strolled towards him. Today, she was dressed in a gorgeous, fashionable outfit made from a tight, skin-hugging material. It outlined the contours of her voluptuous figure, leaving no room for the imagination. Coupled with the young woman’s ravishing looks, Cara was a beautiful sight to behold.

Thomas needed to only look in her direction to feel like he had been intoxicated by her charm. His heart even started racing!

Seeing him somehow made Cara grin even more sunnily. Her pace quickening, and her gait was blithe as she walked towards him.

Had Cara finally woken up from her delusion and noticed Thomas’ qualities?

Was she finally returning to his love?

These were the thoughts that were running through his head. His heart skipped a beat at the very idea of it. Thomas felt rejuvenated, he was elated!

He smiled and hastened his steps as he approached Cara. He liked her a lot. If she changed her mind, and if she wanted him back, Thomas would readily disregard the fact that Cara had slept with Daryl.

The distance between them was shrinking. He was on a dopamine high. His heart was beating faster and faster. Cara opened her arms wide, ready to leap into his widespread arms.

The grin on Thomas’s face was impossible to contain. Gone was his desolation and pathetic morale, he was now smiling as widely as his mirth could allow him.

Cara was not smiling at him, however. In fact, her outstretched arms were not for him, either. She brushed past Thomas and threw herself into the arms of another man, before mewling, “I missed you so much, honey.”

In a snap, Thomas could hear the sputtering cracks that began to form on his fragile heart before it shattered into a mound of jagged pieces. He was frozen, his arms still opened wide. It was the most embarrassing moment that anyone could ever imagine.

Thomas turned around stiffly. He realized that Cara never wanted to hug him at all. She had her eyes on Daryl Richmond the entire time, the hot rich guy who had been standing right next to Thomas.

Cara hooked her arm around Daryl and planted a loving kiss on his neck, before turning back to look at Thomas.

“You really thought I was going to run into your arms, Simp? God, please get a grip on reality.”

Daryl guffawed. “I should have taken some pictures when it went down. Seriously, that was peak comedy! Hahaha…”

Many had gathered at the foot of the stairs below the dormitory and to come and witness the scene. They were laughing and scoffing at Thomas again without so much as a mote of sympathy, while others pulled out their phones to take pictures of him.

One of them gave Daryl his phone, fawning, “I took a video of the whole thing, Richmond. Take a look at it, look at how wide that stupid grin of his was! He really thought she was going to hug him!”

Daryl let the video play again before erupting into another chortle. He watched it again, relishing in Thomas’ most recent blunder, and snapped his fingers.

“Not bad, this is good sh*t. Send it around, share it on social media, everyone,” he said to one of his subordinates. “I want everyone to look at how pathetic Simp Carter looks when he’s desperately in love! As for you, while, you’re shrewd enough for a reward, that’s for sure!”

The subordinate next to Daryl instantly pulled out a hundred dollar bill to reward him, to his excitement. A hundred dollars meant a lot to the average university student, after all, though half of the glee probably came from the fact that he earned it just by taking a video.

“Thank you, Richmond! Thank you!” The young man cried in elation as he began to butter up Daryl. Everyone else watched in envy as they cursed themselves for not being quick enough to capture any pictures or videos. That hundred dollar bill could have been theirs!

That was Thomas’ last straw. He snapped. He shouted hysterically at the top of his lungs as he lunged at Daryl, screaming, “Stop bullying me! I’ll kill you!”

He was too weak to even get anywhere close to hurting Daryl. Before he could touch him at all, Thomas was easily thwarted by his subordinates with a hefty kick, and as soon as he had landed on the ground, he was met with a barrage of punches.
