For no apparent reason, Faye felt a terrible unpleasantness eat away at her heart when she saw the divorce papers. She felt as if something heavy was weighing down her chest!
It was true that she had considered getting a divorce with Zayn more than ten times. She was the one who picked up the divorce papers from the lawyer. She had signed the papers, but Zayn did not.
Now, she was supposed to be delighted that Zayn had given in to signing the papers. Alas, not an ounce of happiness could be found in her heart! On the contrary, she felt as if something was forcefully stripped out of it. It made her feel incomparably empty and dejected!
For a moment, she could even feel the air around her thinning- she could not catch a breath!
She clutched her chest tightly. It was a struggle trying to take in the air around her. She could only fill her lungs under strenuous effort.
Why was this happening to her? Why?
Did she not hope for this?
Zayn had agreed to get a divorce with her before she ever lost her chastity to him at all. She was supposed to be happy that she had managed to escape the devil’s grasp. This meant that she could concentrate all her energy into pursuing the chairman now.
Yet, why did she feel like this?
She realized she had added two more water stains to the divorce papers in her hands. The two blobs of tears had fallen next to the ones left behind by Zayn. They were a stark, wet contrast on the alabaster paper. All of a sudden, she was astonished to realize that she had actually shed her tears for him. Incredulous, she could not believe it herself!
Was she actually crying over Zayn?
She must have lost her marbles!
She frantically shook her head and attempted to rid herself of those bothersome emotions. However, she never managed to get them out of her head, even after getting so dizzy from all of the head-shaking!
She clenched her teeth and disregarded the fact that she was still wrapped in a bath towel. She walked out of the room anyways.
Her presence startled her parents who were in the living room.
Waine lowered his head in a haste and turned his head to the side. He scolded, “Oh my God, Fifi! What are you doing? Why are you running around like that? Go and get dressed, hurry!”
Ruby berated her as well. “What’s wrong with the both of you today? Zayn ran out like a madman a second ago, and now you’re running around naked. Why don’t you have some decency and respect your parents?!”
Faye could not care less. She walked over with reddened eyes and stared at Ruby closely. “Where’s Zayn, Mom? Where did he go?”
Ruby was infuriated by the very mention of Zayn’s name. She scolded, “Don’t say his name in front of me. I’m livid just hearing his name! That deadbeat gave me a hard time earlier. He actually had the courage to yell at me. I won’t ever let him off for doing that!”
“Where did he go?!” Faye asked once again.
Stunned by Faye’s reaction, Ruby said, “Are you alright, Fifi? Did he bully you? Tell me. How did he bully you? I shall…”
Faye raised her voice as she shouted in exasperation, “I asked you, where did he go?”
Ruby was astounded. She finally realized that something was wrong, so she responded, “He left. Before he left, he rambled on about a bunch of nonsense. What’s happened to the both of you? Did you get into a fight?”
Upon hearing that, Faye’s tense body went limp. She was disheartened.
“I’m going out to look for him!” A few seconds passed before Faye pulled herself together and headed towards the entrance.
Ruby was startled once again. She hastily tugged Faye away from the door and said, “Oh my God, what’s wrong with you? Are you actually going to go outside in nothing but a bath towel?!”
Faye had completely forgotten her clothes!
