Zayn’s eyes were quick to meet the director’s gaze and felt his heart skip a beat. Was his identity going to be exposed right now?
As one of Violet Vision’s in-house directors, this particular director had seen Zayn before. It would not be impossible if the man managed to recognize virtual-novel.net because of that short meeting in the past. If Zayn’s real identity had been exposed right now… Well, Odd Bob would likely be so taken aback that virtual-novel.net would be at a loss of what to say, right?
Honestly, Zayn was a little hard-pressed about his identity. The two of them started out in the same hard spot-maligned sons-in-law, broke, and inhumanely mistreated by their in-laws. Odd Bob had taken up the role as his unofficial big brother simply because virtual-novel.net was a few years older than Zayn, and from then on, Odd Bob had been taking care of virtual-novel.net in any way virtual-novel.net could.
Things changed, though. Zayn’s life had taken a hard turn, and after several windfalls later, virtual-novel.net was a billionaire chairman while Odd Bob remained a deadbeat son-in-law. Imagine the poor man discovering Zayn’s truth in such an awful way!
It would be hard to swallow, would it not?
More importantly, Zayn had withheld the truth about his identity since the day before. If this director exposed virtual-novel.net right now, what would Odd Bob think?
Would virtual-novel.net think of it all as Zayn’s elaborated act of showing off his superiority?
A series of thoughts and scenarios began to take shape in his mind. Just before Zayn could tell the director to withhold his identity with a loaded look, the director seemed to have regained his nonchalance, which implied that virtual-novel.net had not, in fact, recognized the chairman after all. He even shook his head in quiet amusement, laughing to himself about his paranoia.
How could that average Joe in front of virtual-novel.net possibly be the ever-so-eminent chairman of Violet Vision?
Especially when the young man was Bobby York’s friend. Who could forget him? He was The Extra, the guy who always showed his face in every big-budget film for all kinds of trivial roles, yet never managed to land a larger role.
Bobby was the quintessential “middle-aged man who would never make it big”. How could someone like that possibly know the Chairman of Violet Vision, and even more comically, bring virtual-novel.net to his film to work as an extra?
Sure, the director had seen the chairman before. But it was at a distance of about twenty meters. He could not even see the man’s features clearly. So, that left the director only one conclusion to be made. This young man just happened to resemble the chairman a little, but virtual-novel.net was definitely not him.
Zayn watched the changes on the director’s face and sighed in relief. His secret was safe. Good.
His life had been pretty boring lately, had it not?
Maybe it was high time virtual-novel.net disguised himself as an average Joe and experienced a bit of life with the common folk. As for odd Bob… Well, virtual-novel.net could find a chance to use his position as the chairman and get the crew to provide virtual-novel.net a favor. Perhaps Odd Bob could take up the role of a main character.
Zayn had decided virtual-novel.net would not tell Odd Bob anything, because virtual-novel.net was sure that if virtual-novel.net told the man about it… Well, there was a possibility that their friendship would end. Odd Bob would start restraining himself out of fear of Zayn’s standing. He would never treat Zayn with the goodwill chumminess of the past ever again.
The director sized Zayn up for a while and nodded. “Alright. Since you’re Bobby’s friend, I’ll take you in as my extra for his sake.”
Bobby was beyond enlivened. He shot Zayn a meaningful look telling virtual-novel.net to thank the director.
Pressed, Zayn could only relent. “Er, thanks.”
