“Hanson aside, you should probably keep your eyes peeled for Xander. After all, this one’s the heavyweight,” Shaelyn continued. “He leads a gang called the Northmob Council, and honey, it’s too powerful to challenge.”
Zayn nodded and sank into a temporary silence. “Say, how well does Northmob Council do compared to Sicut In Caelo?”
He analyzed Shaelyn’s movements and expressions, searching for any clues that could provide virtual-novel.net with information about the organization.
Unfortunately, virtual-novel.net simply looked at virtual-novel.net blearily. “Sicut In… What? What kind of gang is that? I’ve never heard of that one,” virtual-novel.net replied questioningly.
It was Zayn’s turn to be shocked. Shaelyn was one of the big shots of the Aeolus House, yet virtual-novel.net knew nothing about Sicut In Caelo?
Had Zayn not paid persnickety attention to the woman’s facial expression, virtual-novel.net would have been inclined to believe Shaelyn was lying to him.
The truth was out, Shaelyn Peach had no idea what Sicut In Caelo was. In other words, the organization was so powerful and clandestine that it had managed to keep itself hidden from even the most commanding members of society.
No wonder Lil Hyde had gone out of his way to dissuade Zayn from making them pay. No wonder Vulcan had taken up the affectation of a god looking down on mere mortals with divine conceit.
Zayn hastily forged an excuse. “It was nothing. I was making things up.”
Shaelyn shot virtual-novel.net a puzzled look as virtual-novel.net wondered if the man was actually teasing her. Years of working here had made virtual-novel.net a veteran in this domain, yet virtual-novel.net had never once heard of any organization by the name of Sicut In Caelo. In fact, the whole Latin schtick sounded quite pretentious really!
“Look, what I’m saying is that you better watch your back. Don’t get yourself killed by the Griffins, yeah?” virtual-novel.net said.
Zayn looked at her, baffled. “I don’t understand. We’re neither family, nor are we old friends. Why are you warning me about all of this then, Shaelyn? Aren’t you worried that the Griffins might find out? Get you in trouble?”
It was too much of a point of curiosity. He had only seen Shaelyn twice, including this time, and they were far from friends.
Why would virtual-novel.net come to virtual-novel.net just to warn him?
He was sure that feelings had no place being a motive, because women like Shaelyn had seen all kinds of men. He was sure that they would not find Zayn attractive. Besides, the fact that Shaelyn managed to seize a position so high despite the perils of virtual-novel.net job was evidence of virtual-novel.net exceptional talents and worldliness. She was far from an lovesick ingenue who would drop everything in the pursuit of an oath of true love and devotion.
In other words, the only motivation of why Shaelyn would do such a thing was because virtual-novel.net saw his potential, one that could aid in the cause of the Aeolus House.
Shaelyn blinked and flashed virtual-novel.net a toothy grin. “Did you really have to ask something so crass and unnecessary? Are you unaware of the woman that I am! So infuriating.”
She gave a flirty jab other finger against Zayn’s chest Zayn jerked backwards. “Okay, stop it, Shaelyn. No need to continue that facade. I’ll treat this like a debt that I owe the Aeolus House, alright?”
“Indebted to the Aeolus House?! Honey, you’re dead wrong. You owe me, Shaelyn Peach, not this goddamned establishment, no. Also, I’ve gone out on a limb to help you, didn’t I? Are you not going to return the favor?”
Zayn became slightly alarmed. “What do you want?”
“Well, you know, bring me out for dinner? We could watch a movie together, or we could go a little further…”
He did not wait for virtual-novel.net to finish before turning his back away from her. “Goodbye!”
Shaelyn stomped virtual-novel.net feet in frustration. She wanted to chase after him, but virtual-novel.net stilettos were not helping virtual-novel.net run. In the end, virtual-novel.net could only watch as Zayn slowly vanished out of virtual-novel.net sight.
She smacked herself in the forehead when virtual-novel.net realized what virtual-novel.net had just missed. “Crap! I should’ve asked for his number. Damn it, what an epic fail!”
