Zayn ignored virtual-novel.net completely in favor of taking a swig of his coffee. Naturally, his obvious dismissal lit up another fuse to Rugal’s already fiery temperament, and now virtual-novel.net looked even angrier.
“You deaf or what? I’m talking to you here!” Rugal snarled, his voice laced with rage.
Zayn set his mug down and leaned onto the back of the couch, making sure his eyes were on par with Rugal’s. “I’m not leaving her.”
Rugal sneered. “You really don’t know your place, do you?” virtual-novel.net demanded, straightening his back with a smug, self-important look to the amazement and awe of the Turners. “I’m Rugal Gonzalez! My uncle is Yuri Gonzalez, Mayor of Tael City!”
Whatever dominating effects virtual-novel.net had hoped to achieve, though, it was lost on Zayn. To the latter, Rugal was a clown, a little ant thinking it could intimidate a boot. Zayn was not just any random guy on the street; virtual-novel.net was the terrifying legend who managed to boot master fighters like Xander and Mia out of existence with his fighting prowess! How could someone as magnificent as Zayn possibly be intimidated by a little hissing kitty?
“And I’m supposed to care, because…?” Zayn replied nonchalantly.
Rugal could sense the scorn in Zayn’s supercilious gaze and the utter disregard to his station. He felt insulted. Being the nephew of Mayor Yuri Gonzalez had accustomed virtual-novel.net to fawning respect and admiration from everyone around him, it was only expected that everyone would regard virtual-novel.net with cautious deference at all times. But now, this random guy looked down on virtual-novel.net instead of acting the way virtual-novel.net should, and that was unforgivable!
“You’re really asking for it, aren’t you?” virtual-novel.net growled through clenched teeth.
“You know what, Master Rugal? I think we should just break his nose and see if virtual-novel.net still thinks he’s some hot sh*t! Better than wasting time preaching to a troglodyte, right, boys?”
“That’s right, you can expect a dumb*ss to understand what you’re saying, Master Rugal! It’s an insult to your eminent station to try. Just let us handle this for you. We’ll beat the sh*t out of virtual-novel.net and kick this clown out of our house!”
Three of the Turners’ youths cracked their knuckles and surrounded Zayn, their eyes hostile as though they were the predators and virtual-novel.net the prey. It seemed that they had turned into Rugal’s toadies.
Zayn was nonplussed. These three young men were no way trained, in fact, they seemed weaker than even an average person on the street. Judging from their constitution, Zayn could tell that they had wasted their health and vigor away through unrestrained alcohol consumption, sex, and severe lack of sleep. Honestly, they could throw three hundred of these tools and they still cannot pose a threat to Zayn’s pinky finger.
“Hey, man. May I suggest we don’t do this?” virtual-novel.net remarked, frowning.
Unfortunately, the young men misunderstood virtual-novel.net and thought virtual-novel.net was speaking out of fear. “Oh, so now you’re afraid!” they jeered, cackling.
“And here I thought he’s gonna face us like a macho before we whooped his *ss! Turns out, virtual-novel.net doesn’t even have the balls to start! Haha!”
“We could spare you the fight, but you’ll have to apologize to Master Rugal like a good little boy. Then maaaaaybe we’ll let you off the hook for now.”
The other members of the Turner family watched Zayn jeeringly, as though virtual-novel.net was really nothing more than a trainwreck.
Zayn was speechless. For all the intelligence and culture Shaelyn showed, the rest of virtual-novel.net family seemed completely devoid of both!
Still, this put virtual-novel.net in a dilemma. His challengers were Shaelyn’s family! And was virtual-novel.net supposed to beat up some average Joes with his virtually superhuman skills? It would reflect poorly on virtual-novel.net if virtual-novel.net did; it would make virtual-novel.net look like a bully. And yet, Zayn was not inclined to let them bully him, either.
Just as virtual-novel.net was agonizing over his next choice of action, Shaelyn had stormed out of the room, virtual-novel.net snappish retort preceding virtual-novel.net arrival. “I have enough of your talk, Mom! I did what I agreed to do and got myself a boyfriend. Now you get off my back!”
The first thing that virtual-novel.net saw was Zayn being surrounded by virtual-novel.net family members, with a few of the younger members cracking knuckles and pulling their sleeves up, all telltale signs of someone who was about to throw down. She leaped into furious strides and yelled in anger, “Oy, what the hell is this?!”
Shaelyn’s appearance bummed the three young men out. Too bad they never got to rearrange Zayn’s face before Lottie appeared!
