“Is that… the god of the sea?” Lindsay muttered to herself in a trance.
The rest of the crowd flooded toward the deck and looked onward before freezing in shock themselves.
It was impossible for anyone to understand how ridiculously awesome and epic the spectacle was without seeing it with their own eyes. Zayn stood on the surface of the sea, his body erect, with only the soles of his feet submerged. His stance was surprisingly stable too. Despite the bobbing waves and the gale billowing above the sea, he remained firm on his feet.
It was a sight that shattered worldviews. They had never seen anyone who could stand atop of the surface of the sea like an erected rock. This, right here, was man once again subjugating nature with his strength, but this time, it was the might of the ocean!
Several older folks among the crowd were overcome by such burning fervency that it bled into religiosity. Dropping to their knees with their face wrought with reverence, they cried in rapture, “It’s God! Or the God of the sea!”
Ray, whose face seemed perpetually set on a blasé expression, looked positively baffled. He had seen superior class fighters traversing the surface of the lakes before, but they typically only managed it for a short amount of time. They also needed to maintain their speed while sprinting across the water to maintain buoyancy, and their ankles always dipped below the surface.
To see anyone standing atop of violent, crashing waves with only the soles of his feet dipped the way Zayn did it? Now that was unprecedented. For a second, even Ray entertained the idea that perhaps he was looking at some kind of god, too.
Even the other superior class fighters watched with their pupils constricted in shock, awe, and reverence. As masters themselves, these people knew just how challenging it was to do what Zayn was doing. They might have attained the power that allowed them to stand on water, but they could only manage it for ten seconds, give or take. There was no way they could have done it with the same amazing aplomb and mind-blowing stability Zayn so effortlessly displayed!
This alone was enough proof that Zayn’s powers eclipsed all of theirs.
Dick’s eyes were glued to Zayn, his eyes widening along with the ugly shock on his face. Never had he ever imagined Zayn to be so capable that he could stand on the surface of the sea so steadily. He could do the same, yes, but not without strain and definitely not with Zayn’s ease.
Could this mean that he had underestimated Zayn’s powers?
That was a thought that immediately invited a nasty grimace.
Zayn regarded the man’s reaction with contempt. “What’s the matter? Scared?”
Dick continued to stare at him with his darkened expression, his sight as sharp as daggers.
“See, I kept avoiding your attacks back there not because I was scared of you, but because I was concerned for the passengers’ safety. When fighters like us spar, our strength can destroy the entire ship and sink it,” Zayn continued. Gone was the restraint and patience that had characterized his countenance. Now, he released his aura in its full glory. He was confident, intimidating, and bursting with awesomeness. Even the vast expanse of the sea could not conceal the radiance that was Zayn Larson.
Finally, he finished his boast with a hearty laugh, “Well, weren’t you acting like you own the battle, huh? Where did all that sense of superiority go? Or maybe… that was all there was to your self-professed awesome powers! Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!”
His laughter seemed to resonate across the world all the way to the clouds. It boomed across the vastness of the ocean and seemed to have disturbed the creatures from underneath. At the next moment, whale spouts broke out of the sea while dolphins leaped out from the surface, thus completing a pompous display brimming with the surfeits of grandeur.
