The next morning, he was meditating in his room when he was jolted awake by his ringtone all of a sudden. He widened his eyes and took out his phone to take a glance. It was a call on his second SIM card.
He had acquired this second phone number after joining the Insurgent Trifecta specifically for him to communicate with the members of the Insurgent Trifecta.
He picked up the call but before he could speak, a rushed yet panicked voice could be heard coming from the call immediately. “Sergeant Larson! Oh no! Something bad has happened, something bad has happened to Marissa!”
Diana’s eyes widened in surprise at once upon hearing that. His heart was racing and he could feel an ominous presentiment. He said in a deep voice, “What happened, speak slowly.”
Hank said on the call, “We have been ambushed. There are assassins hiding at the location to assassinate Marissa for real! These assassins are all so powerful, and we’re no match for them. Two foreign bodyguards have already been killed in action while Grant and I have been injured as well… We can’t hold up much longer, Sergeant Larson. Come quickly!”
“What?” Diana was immediately astonished upon hearing that. Marissa had actually been ambushed? He was under the idea that she was still in the presidential suite upstairs… Diana attempted to sense her presence, but he immediately realized that she was not around anymore. Other than Marissa, the rest of the people had disappeared as well.
Diana’s mind worked extremely fast, and he figured it out in an instant. He was certain that Marissa and the others had gone over to the scenic spot early in the morning without informing him. As a result, they were ambushed by assassins.
That foolish yet arrogant foreign woman!
Diana could hear Hank’s rapid breathing from the call that was tinged with painful moans. It was apparent that he was already injured.
Other than that, he could indistinctly hear some fighting and killing noises in the background.
The issue that concerned him the most still happened. It was useless for him to put the blame on anyone else at this point in time. Diana asked for their location right away, then hung up and rushed over at his fastest speed.
He believed that Hank had surely already spoken to the Insurgent Trifecta prior to calling him. Yet, what a waste that the headquarters of the Insurgent Trifecta was too far away from here, and there was nothing they could do, so Hank called him instead.
He did not expect that he would encounter an accident on the first mission he embarked on. It was an awful feeling.
After hanging up the call, Grant said from the side, “What’s the update? Is Sergeant Larson coming?”
“Sergeant Larson is already on his way. However, the hotel is too far away. It will take at least half an hour for him to reach here by car at the fastest speed… Will we still be able to buy him another half an hour for real?” Hank said.
Grant was silent. He knew that it was apparent that they would not be able to hold on anymore. The assassins were too powerful, and they were no match for the latter. They would be defeated sooner or later.
In comparison to them, Marissa and her staff were in a similarly bad state. She had already lost her prior elegance and arrogance now as her expression was tainted with panic and regret. She should have listened to the Rheasian special agent if she had known that this would happen.
She looked at the bodyguards around her in the meantime. They were toppling over one by one as they were utterly no match for these assassins. The longer she watched them, the more anxious and panicked she felt.
“Horton, can you defeat these assassins?” asked Marissa anxiously.
Horton shielded Marissa behind him and spoke through clenched teeth, “Our honorable Miss Marissa, don’t worry. I will certainly ensure your safety, and I won’t let you get hurt!”
However, as soon as he uttered those words, a shocking presence suddenly erupted from the area ahead instantly. It was a foreigner who was not that tall or burly, standing at about 1.7 meters tall and a little over 50 years old in age. He raised his head and cast his gaze at them.
Horton’s entire body shook once instantly when he saw the man clearly. He lost his composure completely and screamed out, “That’s the 2S-class fighter, Satan!”
At the same time, another powerful presence erupted from the other direction as well. It was a woman with red hair with a long laceration on her face. Her two eyes were different in color. While she exuded malicious presence, she looked over there and cracked a ruthless smile on her face.
Horton was no longer shocked by the sight of this woman but was filled with fear and despair. He spoke in a shaky voice, “Oh, God, that’s another 2S-class transhuman, the Scarlet Witch!”
