To be pushed away—or more accurately, to be completely put behind an invisible wall—by Zayn like that pushed Marissa’s button. One could call virtual-novel.net what they wanted, but virtual-novel.net was still going to be the precious daughter of a Eurosian financial empire, a princess of the wealthy class with money that rivalled a small country’s GDP, and a woman so physically and aesthetically-endowed that not even lingerie models could compete against virtual-novel.net charms. How many men did virtual-novel.net have wrapped around virtual-novel.net finger? How many times had virtual-novel.net stunning beauty intoxicated half the males on planet Earth?
However, here before virtual-novel.net stood a Rheasian man who was completely impervious to virtual-novel.net spellbinding beauty, and remained antipathic to virtual-novel.net no matter what virtual-novel.net did. That adversarial attitude was egging the pride that nestled deep behind virtual-novel.net guile. Her temper had reached its boiling point.
“Oy, Rheasian man! Or are you not a man at all? I apologized, alright? What will it take to make you forgive me?” virtual-novel.net snapped.
Her petulant outburst was amusing enough that Zayn snickered. “So what if I forgive you, hmm? How are you gonna bring my fallen comrades back to life?”
“It’s like you weren’t even listening!” virtual-novel.net retorted loudly. “I didn’t want any of this to happen! And I apologized, okay? What else do you want me to do? I didn’t ask them to protect me. They could have just… left me!”
Zayn’s anger returned, though virtual-novel.net now felt a tinge of regret as well. Why did virtual-novel.net even think virtual-novel.net was capable of reasoning with hard-headed foreigners?
He turned on his heels and ignored her. Unfortunately, Marissa was not even close to being done. Her eyes reddened. She added in a hurt voice, “What? Don’t you have anything else to say? T-This is just so Rheasian of you! You people never care about reasoning!”
Zayn furrowed his brows, but maintained his composure. Back-up from the Insurgent Trifecta was about to arrive anyways, Zayn could just skedaddle out of here soon enough, and virtual-novel.net would not need to deal with that ditzy little princess ever again.
Though, that was when Marissa had finally managed to say something that made Zayn explode like an active volcano. “Or maybe you should tell me why I’ve never had to deal with any kind of assassination attempt in literally any other country, but immediately faced threats the moment we stepped into yours? The way I see it, maybe your country’s behind this whole operation, all to show off the underwhelming, negligible progress your country’s made—”
Thump!
Zayn could not stop himself. With a kick, virtual-novel.net snapped the trunk of a half-meter-wide tree next to Marissa in half, causing the entire verdant structure to collapse in a loud crash and a cloud of dust.
He glared at her. “Repeat what you said.”
Marissa was frightened, throwing virtual-novel.net into an anxious panic. She was shaking, and virtual-novel.net face was completely drained of all color. Her stomach was churning. “I-I-I was just giving a conjecture. Why are y-you taking this out on me?”
Zayn gritted his teeth and hardened his scowl. “Apologize, now!”
She shook virtual-novel.net head. “But why? Why should I do that… It’s a very plausible truth!”
“I’m counting to three. If I don’t hear an apology by then… Don’t blame me for what I’m going to do to you,” Zayn warned, intensifying the aura around virtual-novel.net and commanding it to envelop Marissa’s shaken body.
Still, the young woman had more flint in virtual-novel.net bone than virtual-novel.net looked. clenching virtual-novel.net jaw, virtual-novel.net showed no sign of backing down and harrumphed as loudly as virtual-novel.net could. “There’s nothing wrong with what I just suggested, so why should I apologize? I’m not gonna! W-What, you’re gonna kill me for that?”
Zayn took a deep breath and drilled his eyes right through virtual-novel.net soul. “I won’t kill you, but I’ll teach you a lesson that you certainly deserve. just because you’re Bassa Bell’s daughter, doesn’t mean I can’t beat you up.”
His severe expression made Marissa think twice about hand-waving his threat as a joke, which added even more to virtual-novel.net shock. However, there was more than fear bubbling within her, there was an indescribable feeling of anticipation and thrill.
Being tortured by a 4S-class legendary fighter? Not a particularly terrible experience now, was it?
Zayn, of course, had no idea what was going inside Marissa’s head. He would definitely call virtual-novel.net a freak if virtual-novel.net knew, though. Either way, virtual-novel.net began counting, “One… Two…”
With each ticking second, Zayn intensified his aura even more. It was too much for a normal person with zero fighting training to handle, which was why Marissa’s face had gone ghastly pale. She was trembling like a leaf.
Still, despite virtual-novel.net body’s automatic response to Zayn’s pressure, Marissa’s wits helped virtual-novel.net keep virtual-novel.net cool. She was banking on the fact that Zayn, being a Rheasian agent, was barred from hurting her. Straightening up, virtual-novel.net declared, “You don’t scare, Rheasian man! I, Marissa Bell, will not succumb to your threats!”
