When Life Takes a Turn

When Life Takes a Turn – Chapter 1162

They chatted on their way inside. They had just arrived at the door when they heard an infuriated voice shouting angrily, “Hey, it’s already been 40 minutes. Surprise, surprise, no sign of Agatha at all. I’m warning you, Claude, you still owe Mr. Gonzalez more than a million dollars!”

“If Agatha doesn’t show up today, we’re going to sell two of your properties and that factory of yours. Your family can have fun living out on the streets!”

The voice belonged to a man, and it had taken on a very impertinent tone. Agatha could see a bald, burly man on the other side. He was pointing at her father’s nose, looking far from pleased.

On the other hand, there were a few people in the house who appeared to be thugs. One of them was sitting audaciously on the sofa with a malicious smile on his face. He was a young man who was dressed in branded clothes.

He was Rugal Gonzalez, one of Waltz City’s most affluent heirs. It was mainly because of his uncle’s status as mayor of Fenx City.

His legs were crossed and he had a cigar in his mouth. He behaved like he was above everyone else in the room as he said to Claude, “Mr. Rouge, we agreed that Agatha was to return home in half an hour. It’s already been 40 minutes, and I still haven’t seen her at all. She stood me up, I’m very unhappy.”

He puffed a ring of smoke into Claude’s face and said with a spurious smile, “I hate being stood up; anyone who’s ever done such a heinous crime has met an ill fate.”

“Mr. Rouge, we’ve known each other for a while now, so I’d assume you’re quite familiar with my temperament, am I correct?”

Claude was at Rugal’s mercy. He hastily nodded and shook his head. He said anxiously, “Mr. Gonzalez, I did not intend for this to happen. I spoke to Agatha just now, she’s at the Memorial Hospital, and she assured me that she’d be arriving in half an hour.”

“I don’t know what happened… Mr. Gonzalez, why don’t I give Agatha another call!”

Mr. Gonzalez’s expression suddenly turned cold. He let out a heavy grunt and said, “No need for that! I can see that you’re bold enough to make little of my words! Alright then, I’ll take both your properties and that factory! You’re going to end up on the streets!”

He stood up and glared at Claude. Things were getting seriously heated now!

On the other hand, everyone from the Rouge family had sprung into an uproar. They were wailing sorrowfully! If the Rouge family sold off their properties, they would be left with nothing but the clothes on their backs. They would not accept that.

Claude hastily begged, “Mr. Gonzalez, oh, Mr. Gonzales! Please give us more time. Agatha is already on her way home. She’ll be here soon enough. Mr. Gonzalez, please don’t sell off our properties. It’s everything we have!”

Claude was over 50 years old, yet he seemed so inferior in the presence of Mr. Gonzales. In fact, Claude was one generation older than he was. It felt extremely demeaning, but he did not have the courage to express it at all. It was because he could not afford to offend a person like Rugal!

Claude regretted believing in past rumors and tall tales, he regretted getting himself involved in Rugal’s lies. Not only did Rugal swindle him for his money, he was in debt because of him as well!

In order to save the future of the Rouge family, he had no other choice but to marry his daughter off to Rugal. He was basically selling his daughter off in return for his family’s wealth.

Rugal let out a grunt and said, “Claude, I’ve already given you many chances, and you know how precious my time is!”

“I know, I know…” Claude hastily nodded. The middle-aged man had his abjectness and grief on full display at that very moment.

Agatha bit her lower lip tightly as she witnessed the scene from the doorway. She loathed her father at first, and assumed that her father had forced her against her will without caring about her happiness at all.

After witnessing the scene from earlier, she saw her father’s grief and helplessness, and also the severity of the situation as a whole.

She inhaled a deep breath, before she began walking into the house with long strides. “Rugal, leave my father alone. I’m late because I was stuck in traffic.”

Her appearance immediately drew the attention of everyone in the house.
