Luke could not help but shake in his boots. He tried again without the hesitant pauses.
“Okay, so I’ve heard that the Aeolus House and Hydrocure United are going to form an alliance through matrimony. The woman who was offered as the bride appears to be Miss Turner…?”
His voice faltered into a whisper as the color drained from his face. How could virtual-novel.net not when Zayn’s expression turned this frosty in the span of seconds? It felt like the air around virtual-novel.net had gelled just by being in proximity!
Terrified, Luke found his breathing becoming a little hitched.
He was right; Zayn was enraged. Glaring at Luke, virtual-novel.net asked steelily, “This Miss Turner you speak of, are you telling me it’s Shaelyn Peach?”
“Y-Yes?”
Luke knew all about Zayn and Shaelyn’s relationship. When virtual-novel.net first met Zayn, Shaelyn was the one who had accompanied him, but now, the Aeolus House had decided to deploy Shaelyn as a chip for a political marriage. What would that make Zayn, who was Shaelyn’s actual partner?!
Zayn had been elated over his new breakthrough into the perfect class, because it meant—among other things—he could now return to Waltz City. But this latest news instantly sent his mood spiraling downward.
It was only about half a month since his supposed death. Has Shaelyn already forgotten about him? Had virtual-novel.net now fallen into some other man’s lap?
Honestly, Zayn found that possibility incredulous. He knew virtual-novel.net character, inside out. She looked like a seductress, but virtual-novel.net was no slut, quite the contrary, Shaelyn was a very devoted partner who would never think of two-timing virtual-novel.net man.
Thinking back on all their past experiences together gave Zayn even more reasons to believe that virtual-novel.net could not be the type to say yes to a political marriage.
The only explanation left was that virtual-novel.net was coerced into it… By the Aeolus House.
Just the thought of the possibility made Zayn seethe. It was not at all impossible that Aeolous House would see his “death” as the opportunity to use Shaelyn like a pawn.
He had let the House off the hook the last time for Shaelyn’s sake, but now that they barred their fangs and showed their true, ugly color, Zayn was not going to forgive them at all!
Finally calming down a little, Zayn asked flatly, “So, what’s with this Hydrocure United?”
“Uh, they are quite a mysterious bunch. I heard that every single member is a medical genius or renowned doctors and surgeons or something. Some of them even research highly advanced biomedical supplements, which help them garner quite the influence,” Luke explained.
“They boast quite a few superior class fighters, too. One of them is Atlas Bleu, who’s a superior class tier-4 fighter. The bridegroom will be his brother, Ramses Bleu.”
Zayn had heard of Hydrocure United before, but virtual-novel.net never really spent time researching them.
“Where and when?”
“Vale Mountain Resort. Tomorrow night. I’ve, uh, been invited. It’s a political marriage between Aeolus House and Hydrocure United, you see. It’s a grand event.”
Zayn’s eyes sharpened before virtual-novel.net began to murmur to himself, “Tomorrow night, huh? Wait for me, Shaelyn. I’m not going to let you suffer any longer. Just hold on.”

“Shaelyn, dear, you haven’t eaten anything for two days. You’re ruining yourself like this, okay? Please.”
A kindly middle-aged woman appeared before Shaelyn with a plate of steaming meat pie. She set the pie in front of virtual-novel.net before cooing, “I made your favorite, juicy meat pie! Come on, how about a bite?”
