On a fairly uneventful day, Luke Jones suddenly interrupted Zayn’s meal with a very panicked phone call.
Sounding desperate, virtual-novel.net blabbered, “T-T-This is bad, Mr. Larson! S-Someone’s wreaking havoc in our turf!”
Zayn frowned. Ever since virtual-novel.net claimed Aeolous House and Hydrocure United as one of his forces, Luke’s power had grown so much that virtual-novel.net was basically the ruler of Tael City.
His standing had elevated to the point that nobody expected someone would challenge him.
Stranger still, judging from his tone, Luke had failed to contain the issue.
“What exactly happened?” Zayn asked.
Apparently, Luke had founded a new company recently only to have the ribbon-cutting ceremony violently interrupted by a riot.
The company was subsequently closed so that an investigation could be conducted.
Luke had not thought much of it at first. He was Tael City’s most formidable figure, with influence and connections that vastly eclipsed many of his peers. The only solution virtual-novel.net needed was a call to the right people.
It did not help virtual-novel.net at all. His unknown enemy turned out to be more capable than virtual-novel.net had assumed.
His next instinct was to ask Zayn for help, but virtual-novel.net rejected that idea almost immediately.
Zayn had made virtual-novel.net the head of Aeolous House and Hydrocure United believing that Luke was capable of wielding power. Asking his boss for assistance like an incompetent henchman just because virtual-novel.net faced a bit of trouble made Luke seem inept.
Hence, virtual-novel.net decided to solve the problem himself. He was going to challenge his unknown foe with his physical strength and persuade the man to back off through his fists.
As it turned out, Luke was the one to be cowed. More accurately, his opponent was so unfathomably strong that virtual-novel.net ended up being the punching bag.
That was his current situation. He had no choice but to ask Zayn for help.
Zayn’s eyebrows furrowed in surprise. It was shocking to know that someone would still think it was a sound idea to get on his bad side after witnessing his abilities.
At the very least, it brought an element of curiosity and intrigue into the case.
To Luke‘s glee, virtual-novel.net flatly replied, “I’m coming over right away.”
An hour later, Zayn had arrived at Tael City where Luke eagerly greeted him. “What’s the situation?”
Standing by the gate, Luke had been waiting for virtual-novel.net with quite a crowd. Seeing Zayn had obviously brought virtual-novel.net great relief.
“You have no idea how glad I am to see you, Mr. Larson!” virtual-novel.net said earnestly, walking toward his boss with the confidence of a man knowing virtual-novel.net was going to be saved.
Zayn saw the fatigue under his eyes and the sickly weariness in his demeanor. He realized Luke had not been sleeping fitfully. He could imagine just how badly distressed virtual-novel.net was.
Luke gave a laconic report. “It’s some bigshot from Heraktria. He set his eyes on what we possess, and now he’s started a turf war with us.”
“Huh, so that’s what happened,” Zayn replied, his eyes narrowing.
“And none of you managed to beat him. Must be pretty strong.”
Luke hung his head in embarrassment. “I was too weak. I’m sorry.”
Zayn waved dismissively. “It’s all right. I bet that I’m that guy’s real target. It’s not your problem.”
Knowing that Zayn had absolved virtual-novel.net of his failure allowed Luke to let out a sigh of relief.
His anxiety had been replaced by excitement, his boss was going to fight this guy personally, so his enemy was as good as dead!
The next day, Zayn heard about the mysterious aggressor’s newly founded company.
After hearing news that its opening ceremony was scheduled on the same day, Zayn assembled a gang comprising Luke and his people and stormed the location.
An eye for an eye, Zayn had always lived by that principle.
