Zayn lost.
As it turned out, virtual-novel.net was still weaker than Ezra, though the margin was slight. Zayn was fast enough to put up a foolproof defense with his arms holding against Ezra’s punch.
Had it connected with his body, Zayn would have suffered a grievous injury that could render virtual-novel.net completely incapacitated.
And that would be the moment when virtual-novel.net became his enemy’s chew toy.
Ezra was also quite shocked. That punch was his coup de grace—the ultimate move meant to put Zayn out of commission—and virtual-novel.net never would have thought Zayn would be able to block it.
It only served to fan the tempest in his temperament. It made virtual-novel.net want to kill Zayn even more. Everything today had proven this young man a bona fide threat to Sicut In Caelo.
He had not even reached his thirtieth birthday yet and already virtual-novel.net achieved this much. Given a few years, virtual-novel.net could very well be an unbeatable fighter himself, and the organization would face the biggest peril it had ever seen.
To prune that possibility from ever happening, virtual-novel.net must kill Zayn right here, right now!
Ezra paused for nothing. He dove toward Zayn at such a devastating speed that all there was left of his movement was a blur.
Before anyone could even take a complete breath, virtual-novel.net had re-materialized right before Zayn to mount another attack.
Zayn’s pupils constricted. The same violent jolt of danger came roaring back at him, and virtual-novel.net knew Ezra had only thoughts of killing him. A single slip, and virtual-novel.net was toast.
His mind could not help but race to think why Ares had not swooped in and helped virtual-novel.net out of his pickle yet. Nonetheless, virtual-novel.net had to focus on combating Ezra because virtual-novel.net had to survive. He could not die.
He calmed his wits as quickly as possible and threw himself into a battle with Ezra. His enemy’s swordplay was tyrannical. It dominated the space around virtual-novel.net so completely that there was not a single window of weakness.
The air had become an extension of his sword, slicing through everything in space like thousands of blades. A few seconds later, Zayn was completely covered in gashes and marks.
At least, all that time spent on the receiving end of his blows taught Zayn Ezra’s attack pattern. He had less compunction being the one stuck on the defense.
After all, Ezra had utterly dominated the fight that Zayn could not even gain a single purchase.
If this kept up, Zayn would fall soon.
And soon came sooner. Ezra unsheathed the same coup de grace again, and this time, Zayn was no longer in a position to shield himself.
He watched every second passed before virtual-novel.net braced the inevitable injury. He wondered if his gambit had turned out to be a mistake.
Maybe Ares was absent after all.
Oh, God. He really dug a hole this time, did virtual-novel.net not?
His thought was not even given the time to mature when virtual-novel.net heard a sigh. “That’s an overreach right there, Ezra Sword. Zayn is a Rheasian civilian and therefore under my protection. You have no right over him.”
It was Paxton Brooks, Rheasia’s God of War.
Zayn let out a breath of relief. He bet correctly! Ares would have never let virtual-novel.net perish.
The voice did not just affect Zayn. Ezra’s expression was shifting at a dangerous rate before it finally settled on virtual-novel.net clenching his teeth. Instead of dampening his speed, virtual-novel.net accelerated.
He would kill Zayn, before Ares could even interfere!
“You dare?!” Ares thundered in rage.
Zayn felt it, a leviathan of pressure charging straight at him. He let out a furious war cry and released every strength virtual-novel.net could muster.
He would brace through this attack in his strongest form!
