When Life Takes a Turn

When Life Takes a Turn – Chapter 1448

“That’s right. You’re just a nobody, yet you have the audacity to badmouth the highlord. I can see that you’re trying to get yourself killed! ”

Zayn behaved as if he was frightened. He lowered his voice and said with slight stubbornness, “I’m only telling the truth. The former Saintess never betrayed the organization, so she shouldn’t be executed no matter how bad her crime is.”

“As for Lady Lysithea, that doesn’t make sense either. She was only standing up for the former Saintess and begging for mercy on her behalf…”

“That’s why I said that Ezra is such an authoritarian. He used his position to vent his own anger in the name of public interest!”

These two insignificant people became even more terrified after seeing that Zayn had the courage to make such an accusation. They assumed he was a hothead, but they were not very strong-minded either.

After hearing Zayn’s argument, they started to believe that Ezra had gone too far. It was because, to their knowledge, the former Saintess had never committed any treasonous act that harmed the organization during the last few years that she had been imprisoned.

“There are things which you don’t know. The former Saintess may have done nothing wrong, but it was her son’s fault.”

“Her son engaged the Southern Highlord in a fight some time ago and beat him to death. That was a serious punishable offense and the former Saintess will certainly have to bear the consequences.”

“As for Lady Lysithea, I heard she had an intimate relationship with the former Saintess’ son and even engaged in joint training with him. That was how her son managed to make such drastic improvements in his fighting skills…”

The man still wanted to say something else, but his companion next to him gave him a quick shove and he did not dare to comment further.

He immediately pulled a long face and spoke to Zayn in a tone that showed his seniority, “Hey, you’re just a low-ranking member, so why are you gossiping so much, huh? It’s best that you mind your own business!”

Zayn did not speak, but he nodded to show his agreement.

Their conversation had already given him some crucial information. He was filled with anxiety and his chest was burning with rage. He had an intense urge to kill Ezra and cause chaos in this place, but he still controlled his impulses!

He knew he had to remain calm because the most pressing matter at that moment was for him to rescue his mother and Lysithea.

As long as he could leave this place with them, he would still have plenty of opportunities to seek revenge in the future!

After figuring this out, he took a deep breath to calm himself quickly and then began to look for the dungeon where his mother and Lysithea were held captive.

Unfortunately, he had to keep a low profile and he was also new to the place. He did not dare reveal himself in the presence of master fighters, so he still could not locate their cell after searching for half an hour.

He suddenly heard a commotion, and when he turned to see what it was, he was met with a shocking scene that made his pupils constrict.

He watched as his mother and Lysithea walked with great difficulty, their bodies bound in chains and shackles while they were surrounded by a group of people!

His mother was covered in wounds and blood, her face pale. She seemed to have lost all her strength and was low in spirit. He could tell at a glance that she had been tortured.

Lysithea was in an even more disheveled state. Her breathing was shallow as though each breath might be her last.

It was obvious that Lysithea’s left shoulder was injured, making it difficult for her to move.

Upon witnessing all this, Zayn clenched his fists tightly. He was furious, deranged, and sorrowful!

The first thought that came to his mind was to run over and adopt the most simple, brutal method to save his mother and Lysithea!

However, he still refrained from doing so because he knew there were too many highly skilled fighters around.

Even if he was a perfect-class master fighter, he would never be able to escape with two burdensome hostages under such circumstances.

He had to figure out a safer and more reliable way!
