In the crowd, Zayn clenched his fists tightly in rage after hearing the charges. His chest was burning with anger, and he felt like he was about to explode like a volcano!
In the end, the old man looked down at Hayley and said in a judicial tone, “Hayley King, do you plead guilty?”
Hayley bit her lower lip tightly. As she listened to the groundless charges, her head was lowered and her body trembled beyond her control.
She realized that Ezra had been so diligent in tarnishing her reputation, setting her up to seem like a heinous criminal, in order to make himself appear righteous in comparison.
In any case, she was all out of options.
The entire scene fell silent at once. Everyone held their breath and stared at Hayley closely to see if she would plead guilty.
The old man furrowed his brow and berated, “Hayley King, I shall ask you one last time, do you plead guilty?!”
Hayley raised her head, her lips ghastly pale while she said in an imploring tone, “I plead guilty but can you please free Lysithea? She’s innocent.”
Her question was aimed at Ezra. She was already begging him.
Ezra pulled a long face and was completely unaffected. “Hayley, you’re not in a position to negotiate.”
Hayley bit her lower lip tightly. She understood Ezra’s intention. If she still refused to plead guilty, both she and Lysithea would be thrown into the Fugly Pound so…
She had no choice but to acknowledge how despicable Ezra was. He did not have a trace of the elegant demeanor befitting the Eastern Highlord, but there was nothing else she could do other than yield.
“I…plead guilty…” It felt as if every ounce of strength in her body was drained when she said that. She knelt there, stuff as a statue.
The corners of Ezra’s lips curled up into a pleased smile.
Next, the old man continued to read out a large list of Lysithea’s offences. It took five minutes as well.
The main content was that Lysithea communicated with Zayn in secret and betrayed the organization. She would be executed similarly!
“Lysithea, do you plead guilty?”
Lysithea was already lingering by her last breath. She was barely breathing, and had she not been so tenacious, she would not have lasted that long.
“Can you please free Aunt Hayley? She never betrayed the organization and never left the organization after that. Why do you have to be so ruthless?” Her tone was adamant.
“That’s presumptuous of you!” The old man scolded her angrily, “You’re reckless, Lysithea. You have no respect for the Saint or the organization and that’s a capital offence already. Come and execute her immediately!”
Immediately after he said that, two half-naked burly men showed up. They walked over and stood before them side by side.
They pulled up Hayley and Lysithea in preparation to take them to the execution platform at Ezra’s command!
There was a sundial on the platform, and they would be decapitated at once when the time was up.
Everyone stared. Time would soon run out, so all of them watched the sundial closely.
“Time’s up. Execute them!”
Ezra spoke in a commanding tone, giving the order with a wave of his hand.
There was murderous intent in the executioners’ eyes as they swung their blades!
Hayley shut her eyes and heaved a long sigh. She felt extremely remorseful and regretful. There were tears in her eyes when she muttered softly, “Zayn, I’ve let you down. Goodbye, my so…”
