After all, it was a thrilling experience to encounter assassins.
Alice was stunned ever so slightly as well. There was a look of recollection on her face. Had it not been for Anderson that day, they would have been captured by the assassins and had a tragic end.
There was a look of lingering fear on Prince William’s face, but it vanished as soon as it appeared. Barne regained his proud, confident expression and said in a charismatic manner, “It was just an accident…”
Next, he began to narrate the incident on that day in detail.
However, the version that he told was the complete opposite of the truth!
Barne portrayed himself as an extremely courageous, heroic savior who abhorred evildoers and had incredible abilities.
On the other hand, Anderson was described as a cowardly, unambitious man. Had it not been for his efforts at the time, Anderson would have died.
“Whoa! You live up to your reputation as a prince, Your Highness. You’re courageous and heroic beyond comparison. You’re a role model for all of Yingland!”
“Yes! With a great leader like you ruling Yingland, our country will certainly reach even greater glory, Your Highness!”
“That Rheasian is useless. How dare he behave so arrogantly when it was obviously you who saved him. He’s ungrateful!”
“Hmph. Rheasians are shameless. They will never be as courageous and elegant as us Yinglanders. I propose not to let Rheasians set foot in our country from now on! They don’t deserve it!”
“That’s true. Rheasians are a lowly species and we’ve never enjoyed dealing with them…”
Remarks of this sort echoed through the entire event. Many people began to suck up to Prince William and belittled Rheasians without reservation.
With Prince William’s encouragement, they talked about Anderson as if he was the most malicious, despicable, and hideous person in the world, no different from a rat.
Prince William was very pleased with the situation. The corner of his lips curled up beyond his control into a proud smile.
‘Hmph. You dared disrespect me in that manner on that day, you damned Rheasian. This is your punishment!’
‘There’s also you, Alice. I thought you had feelings for the lowly Rheasian? I’m just going to defame him in your face, so how do you like that?’
Alice was indeed furious. She clenched her fists tightly and gnashes her teeth in anger as fury surged into her mind.
She felt very wronged and confused. Why would Prince William, the next successor of the country, be so abominable?
Noticing Alice’s reaction, a look of pleasure flashed past Prince William’s eyes. Barne said to her with a smile, “Alice, don’t befriend Rheasians anymore. They’re all despicable, shameless little men.”
Alice was even more infuriated upon hearing Prince William’s shameless remark. She could feel her anger overwhelm her rationality!
She could not stand the others defaming Anderson in the same manner.
Who gave them the right to do so? It was obviously Anderson who saved them and he was a good man. Who permitted Prince William to do such a thing to Anderson?
Barne was biting the hand that fed him.
At last, fueled with extreme anger and disgust, she could not keep herself from shouting, “You’re lying! You were the coward on the day and not Anderson!”
