That should not have been the case. It was the weekend and according to Faye’s routine, she should have been resting at home!
Jagoan immediately spread his consciousness across the whole residential area, but he still could not sense Faye’s presence and instantly had an ominous feeling.
Upon entering the house, he found that there was nothing unusual inside. Everything still seemed normal. The only thing unusual was his mother-in-law’s behavior.
“Mom, where’s Jagoan? Why isn’t she home?” Jagoan asked in a deep voice after entering the house with Ruby.
Ruby’s footsteps came to a stop upon hearing that, but she offered no explanation.
She merely shook her head and said, “Jagoan is not home.”
“Mom! ” Jagoan called out to her and said in all apparent seriousness, “Did something happen here? Did an enemy come looking for us? Mom, don’t worry. Please tell me. I’m back now, so I’ll solve any problem there is!”
His mother-in-law’s eyes went red with tears. She took a glance at Jagoan, widened her mouth in preparation to speak when a voice from upstairs interrupted her. “Cough, cough!”
Jagoan raised his head to look up and saw his father-in-law.
“You’re back, Jagoan,” he said
Jagoan looked at Waine and said, “I’m back, Dad. Where’s Jagoan? Why haven’t I seen her yet?”
A look of agony and despair flashed through Waine’s eyes, but it vanished quickly.
He said, “Ah, Jagoan has gone overseas and won’t be returning for a while. You must be starving now that you’re back, I’ll have Mom cook something for you.”
Even though he managed to hide the truth much better than his Wife, how could he hide it from Jagoan?
Jagoan was only slightly suspicious initially, but his heart sank after seeing his father-in-law’s reaction. He knew then that something bad had definitely happened to Faye!
Moreover, it probably was not a simple matter!
He immediately said, “Dad, tell me honestly, what happened to Faye?”
Noticing Jagoan’s stern expression, his father-in-law could not hold back anymore. His eyes were slightly red with tears as he attempted to avoid Jagoan’s gaze.
He shook his head and said, “Nothing. She has gone abroad and will come back eventually.”
Jagoan’s heart sank even more. He did not digress anymore. Pulling out his phone, he dialed Faye’s number, only to discover that it was no longer in use!
She had been using the same number for many years, so it could not possibly have been terminated.
If the number was gone, something bad had definitely happened to Faye!
“Something bad has happened to Jagoan!” Jagoan’s joyful mood was ruined in the. He had finally realized that something untoward had occurred.
He dashed over to Waine and said grimly, “Tell me honestly, Dad. What happened to Faye?! Her number is not in service anymore, so she can’t possibly be traveling abroad! Did someone abduct Jagoan?”
Confronted by Jagoan’s intimidating demeanor, Waine lowered his gaze, his eyes tearful and his face tainted with sorrow. He shook his head and said in agony, “Don’t ask me anymore, Jagoan. Jagoan is…”
‘Could it be that Faye is dead?’
Jagoan was shocked and his body was swaying as if he was about to faint!
Meanwhile, Ruby could not stand it anymore downstairs. She said, “Why have you only come back now, Jagoan? Why are you only back now?! Something bad has happened to Faye! Something terrible happened to her!”
