Despite his father-in-law’s continued silence, Jagoan could tell from his astonished expression that he was right.
Without the slightest hesitation, he pulled out his phone and began to call Shaelyn.
She soon picked up and sounded surprised. “Is that you, Jagoan? You’re back?”
She seemed delighted, but Jagoan soon noticed a tinge of guilt in her voice as well.
It further confirmed his speculation. He nodded and said, “Yes, I’m back. Where are you, Shaelyn? Can you come over to Barrow Cove?”
Shaelyn felt even more guilty upon hearing Jagoan’s tone. She said, “Uh, Jagoan, I’m sorry, but I’m still tied up with some work here and I won’t be able to come over. I…”
Before she could finish her sentence, Jagoan interrupted her by saying, “Shaelyn, I know that something bad has happened to Jagoan. Who abducted her?”
Just as he expected, Shaelyn had a massive reaction upon hearing that, and Jagoan could hear her drop her phone. He could tell how she was losing her composure.
After a while, Shaelyn spoke once again. “Everything is fine, Jagoan. Isn’t Jagoan traveling abroad? Don’t worry. She’ll be back after some time.”
Jagoan did not speak anymore upon hearing her response and remained absolutely silent.
His silence made Shaelyn feel even more guilty and sad. She realized that Jagoan had already found out about the situation, most probably due to Ruby and Waine being unable to keep it secret.
She heaved a sigh to herself. She was under the assumption that she would still be able to stall Jagoan for a while. Judging by the current situation, it seemed that she had underestimated his intelligence.
After a while, she broke the silence by softly saying, “Something did happen to Jagoan, Jagoan, but don’t worry, her life is not in danger. It’s possible that she will come back by herself soon enough, so you can…”
Jagoan interrupted her once again by saying, “Who was it?”
“Jagoan…”
Jagoan increased the volume and forcefulness of his voice. “Tell me, Shaelyn. Who was it?”
Shaelyn could hear from Jagoan’s tone that he was dead serious. She could tell that he would be infuriated if she were to beat around the bush because she knew how close Jagoan and Faye were.
Still, she found it inappropriate for her to talk about the issue. It was not that she wished to hide the truth from Jagoan, but she knew about how dangerous Osiris was.
If Jagoan went looking for Faye, it was highly possible that he would get himself into trouble as well!
Faye and Hayley specifically told her about that.
Jagoan chuckled upon hearing her silence and said, “Could it be that you don’t trust me, Shaelyn?”
Shaelyn heaved a sigh and said, “Jagoan, it’s not that I don’t trust you, but the one who abducted Faye is her biological father. Moreover, before she left, Jagoan ordered us not to tell you no matter what…”
