Jagoan took a while to recover from his surprise and said, “Biological father? What’s that supposed to mean? Isn’t Waine Jagoan’s biological father?”
As he spoke, he turned around and took a glance at Waine.
The man looked devastated.
Jagoan suddenly realized just how much had occurred during his absence.
Moreover, Faye had hid quite a few things from him!
At the other end of the line, Shaelyn said, “Jagoan, it’s going to take a while to explain everything, and I’d rather not do it on the phone. We should find an opportunity for everyone to sit down and talk about this together.”
At that point, Shaelyn knew that she would not be able to hide the matter from Jagoan, so it would be better for her to give him every detail.
Jagoan pondered for a moment before he nodded and agreed.
Afterward, he asked his mother-in-law about it and learned that it had already been a day since Faye was taken.
One day…
It had only been a day…
Jagoan felt even more regret upon hearing that.
If he had known, he would have made the best use of his time in Shangri-la and returned as soon as he could. If he had returned one day before, Faye would not have been taken!
He was puzzled by the fact that the man who took Faye was actually her biological father.
What could it mean? Could it be that Faye was not a member of the Carter family and had another identity?
Jagoan found that to be very surprising. He had never expected something like that could happen.
Next, he called up his mother Hayley. Her reaction was pretty much the same. It seemed that they had all agreed that they would try to hide the truth from him.
There could only be one reason for them to do so. They must have chosen to do that because Faye’s biological father was extremely powerful, so powerful that they felt hopeless.
Jagoan returned to his room and saw the wedding photo of him and Faye hanging on the wall as soon as he entered.
In truth, both of them had not behaved naturally during the photoshoot, especially Faye. It was obvious that she was growing impatient and even disdainful.
At the time of their wedding, Faye was not so fond of him and it was also the lowest point of his life at the time. In order to avoid being killed by the Larsons, he was forced to marry into the Carter family and live in hiding.
Before he noticed, a few years had already passed.
Scenes of the past flooded through his mind like a movie reel as he looked at the photo, a stream of memories from his past.
At the time, he was a deadbeat. Who would have thought that he could transform himself into a new man within just a few years?
On the other hand, his relationship with Faye slowly went from being broken back then to solid as a rock.
The old unpleasantness was all water under the bridge.
