Jagoan could not help feeling emotional as he thought about how quickly time had passed.
Still, he could not keep the smile from his lips as memories flooded his mind. Even though his life was not always so comfortable, he felt a different kind of happiness when he thought about it.
Before he knew it, Faye had become the most important person in his life.
He could lose the whole world but not he could never lose her!
Jagoan would never allow anyone to take Faye from him. It did not matter who her biological father was or how powerful he was!
Jagoan stayed in the room looking at the decorations and objects in there. Every item carried a memory shared between him and Faye.
He never knew how intertwined their lives had become, and he could not imagine how terrible his life would be without her.
Without his beloved, what did it mean to be formidable enough to dominate the world?
Half an hour passed. Jagoan placed the photo of him and Faye back down. He walked out of the room in silence because he could sense that Shaelyn, his mother, and Lysithea had arrived.
They entered the house just as he went downstairs.
Shaelyn felt pleasant surprise, longing, and guilt when she saw Jagoan. She made her way to him, biting her lower lip as she said sadly, “I’m sorry, Jagoan. I didn’t do what you asked of me. I failed to protect Jagoan.”
Jagoan patted her shoulder and cracked a smile. He did not blame her. He said softly, “It’s fine. I’m sure you did your best. Leave everything else to me.”
Next, he greeted Hayley who stood next to Shaelyn. “Hello, Mom.”
Nodding in response, Hayler walked over and cupped his face with her hands and said gently, “You’re back, Jagoan. That’s wonderful. You had a rough experience during your time in Shangri-la.”
Meeting her, Jagoan felt very comfortable and at ease. Basking in his mother’s gentleness and love, his anxiety faded away and he cracked a smile.
Shaking his head, he said, “I’m fine. I had a smooth journey in Shangri-la. No great hardships. Don’t worry, Mom.”
However, Hayley shook her head and said, “Why are you still trying to deceive us, Jagoan? We saw what happened to you in Shangri-la and we were worried sick when we saw the final battle between you and King Erik!”
“Erik was the most powerful man on the Olympian ranking list. He was reputed to be the chosen one of this generation. We were so worried that he’d kill you.”
Upon hearing that, Jagoan was stunned for a moment before he blurted out, “How did you know about the final battle between me and King Erik? Were you somehow in Shangri-la as well?”
Upon saying that, he immediately shook his head and before his mother could answer, saying, “That’s impossible. You couldn’t possibly enter Shangri-la.”
“Moreover, only King Erik and I were the only people within fifty kilometers. So how could you know then? Did King Erik survive and spread the news after returning to Earth?”
At that point, he shook his head again. That should not be the case because he really did kill King Erik and the man could not possibly be resurrected!
If that was the case, how did his mother know about what happened?
“How did you hear about this, Mom?” Jagoan asked directly.
Lysithea then said, “It’s not just us. The whole world knows too. Everyone saw your power and they know that you beat King Erik to death.”
Upon hearing that, Jagoan became even more confused.
“What’s going on? How did you know?” Jagoan asked once again.
Shaelyn said, “There was a live broadcast. A mysterious website suddenly emerged that allowed us to watch your situation in Shangri-la.”
